I am glad he has left. He ran out of steam months ago once opposition managers sussed out his one dimensional playing style. The injury to Spencer was a blow, but the fact teams snuffed out Zanatta, who was our only real goal threat, was equally damaging .We were crying out for a centre forward and he watched lots of matches up and down the country and plumped for the worst signing in our history. The only problem i have with the board on this is someone should have told him " NO". If the budget is a small one next season it is due to McGlynn spraying this season's one against a wall. Too many poor signings mainly in the striking department was our downfall. Considering where we were in December and failing to make the top four, i am amazed that the board offered him a new deal. Similar to his first spell at the club, he builds up momentum then once that runs out there is no plan b. My choice would be Levein with Berra as No2. I am like all Rovers fans just crossing everything that the board get it right. |

Other than Riley Snow I don't think any of this seasons signings were all that bad. Tac-tics were another issue entirely but the loss of Spencer and injury to Matthews really broke us and not only stopped the feed to Zanatta and Ross but even stopped us getting the ball out of defence in games. Playing games where you needed to change thins and having only 3 or 4 U20's subs on the bench was key. Another question could be "was McGlynn at fault for the injuries?" Perhaps it was pitch related, perhaps not? At the end of the day who knows but we do seem to get far more than our share of big injuries.
After the Goodwillie debacle (which any board with anything about them at all would have killed off in it's infancy) McGlynn was definitely a changed man, all his enthusiasm was gone, he knew he wasn't wanted by those at board level and was looking at his options after February.
One of the best Rovers managers in my 45 seasons following the club I have to say John McGlynn wasn't perfect, he was however dedicated, hard working and genuinely enthusiastic about football and Raith Rovers. I doubt the next man will have as many of those traits as he did, another Snake in the Grass like McKinnon may be a good manager but be totally untrustworthy, Another Locke may interview well but be otherwise hapless or another Anelka may rock up seemingly at a bargain price yet prove to be a potential bankruptcy.
Time will tell and we can only hope they get it right but I honestly don't trust them to do so, I seriously doubt they have a 1/4 of the feelings for the club that we the fans have. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

After yesterday's misleading press release, I know the board certainly won't show their hand! You posted to tell us it was a done deal before they made out it was not. You were right, they were ---- (well) |
Hi Neil
All I can say is few players ready to follow John (out of contract) and few other players waiting to see what the board will do regarding replacing John and who will come in but from the names they are considering I think its safe to say we can say goodbye to attacking attractive football 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Just feels like we are going backwards 🤦♂️ |
Thanks for the heads up Raith2020. I'm starting to get the drift of where this is headed! Someone who was in charge for a short spell before maybe. |
Neil lets just say that couple of candidates are very inexperienced, another one could be an ex-player, another 2 candidates have managed certain teams from Edinburgh, maybe one of them even managed in India. |

Coyle is at Queens Park now is he not? Not to suggest he's not the guy in question I guess.
What has Craig Levein done in Scottish football lately to suggest that he would be a good appointment? As far as I understand it he's an board advisor at Brechin and thats about it since he was sacked from two jobs at Hearts in the same day during their relegation season. |

I agreed with most of Strathallan Rovers comments and that's why the board IMO came to conclusion as we did and John McGlynn was on his way.
.........then I couldn't believe Strathallan Rover's choice for manager and assistant???????? |

Suppose if we get levein we won’t need any strikers for his 6-4-0 formation. |
