Anybody know the name of the compilation CD that gets played before the match? It's the same songs every game and I have one of them stuck in my head now and I'd like to know what it's called. It's not even a good song that's the worst of it. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Could it be The Shambolics perhaps? _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

It's no by them Scotty, they are actually quite decent. To be honest the song is out my head so I can't remember what it's like now!
The songs that I hear at Starks I only ever hear at Starks. Can't remember ever hearing them on the radio though that probably says more about my listening habits. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

If you're tech savvy download an app called Shazam. When you hear a song bring up Shazam and it'll detect the name of the song along with artist immediately. Can use this anywhere you hear a song - whether on TV, in a stadium, shopping centre etc. |

If you've got an android phone with android 11 or above you should get this free. Go to settings > sounds and vibrations > now playing. It does the same as shazam and stores a history as well. Might need to turn it on etc. |

Shazam is free as well however if a similar setting is built into a phone then that's a bonus and saves hassle of downloading an app to take up space on your phone. I've got an Android phone and running Android 11 but couldn't find this setting you mentioned when going into Sounds & Vibrations. I'll have a play about with it and see if I can find it. |

I'll try my best to clear it all up, and apologies for the long reply!!!
The pre-match music isn't via a compilation CD, but it is true the same songs get played in the final 20-25 minutes before kick-off. It's done through an i-pod.
Anyone in the ground from 2pm onwards will hear different tunes most weeks, with a mix of old hits and stuff you won't really hear anywhere else - you can blame me for that as I'm a total music snob and it's about airing stuff that maybe some fans will end up liking and appreciating! It's a hard task coming up with the music given that we have fans of all ages and with a very wide range of tastes......
The club look for the pre-match tunes to be upbeat and to help, if possible, with building-up the atmosphere in the run-up to the teams taking the field. I've looked at how many other clubs go about this, especially in the bigger stadia, and it is increasingly the case that match day announcers all over the world adopt a pattern of regular and repeated songs in the final period.
I'm also a tad superstitious, and if we are on a decent run, I try to keep the same running order, or thereabouts. This season, it has been along these lines:-
Respect - Aretha Franklin
My Time Is Now - Shambolics
Testify - Hi Fi Sean featuring Crystal Waters
Pump It Up - Endor
Dancing In The Streets - Martha & The Vandellas
Let's Go - Calvin Harris
Geordie Munro has occasionally been aired pre-match, but we always seem to draw or lose when I do that....so I've been keeping that for the run-out music at the start of the second half.
Hope that helps...and as I said earlier, coming up with any songs that all of our fans would enjoy is a nearly impossible.
It's a tough task to come up with |

Thanks for the reply Jim and that's great I now know the name of the song. It was Testify, HiFi. Actually now that I've listened to it again i can see why I had it stuck in my head, it is quite catchy.
I actually quite like the pre match songs. Like you indicated they aren't ones that you typically hear on the radio or at least not the stations I usually have on in the car. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Just did the same, I chose the extended version because for about the first minute I did not recognise it at all, then it clicked.
As for the others, I genuinely feel bad for not liking the Shambolics song, they're a local band and I really want them to be great (not that it hinges on my support of course) but their songs just don't stick with me and I just can't get into them. |

Upcoming artist from Kirkcaldy kicking on, PG Ciarletta is his name.
His latest tune 27 was featured on Match of the Day a few weeks back while doing a bit about Everton.
I'm sure he'd appreciate it if 27 Or Bonnie Toun were played st Starks Park..
He's got a headline gig at PJ Molloys coming up in March if anyone enjoyed what they heard. |
