I feared it'd be too good to be true, looks very much like RRFC will still have to foot the bill for his contract, unless the Clyde directors are even more clueless than ours were.
£60k transfer and £1100/week for 134 weeks, minus what ever (if anything) Clyde have signed up for. Assuming that's £200,000 (not including lost sponsorship etc), the easy solution is that the gang of 4 (and I don't mean Roy Jenkins etc) chip in £50k each from their own pockets and we move on.
A big whack in their savings I'll agree but then again it was a such big mistake to make. |
Think that calculation is on the conservative side Scotty, he can easily demand his basic contract and all sporting bonuses be paid as well, appearance fees, goal bonuses, performance bonus, share of team bonuses for the full duration of his contract etc. Could easily be £250k minimum, he holds all the cards and his bargaining position has just gone up now that he's a complete countrywide pariah now, no club will ever sign him, his career is over. |
Why would we pay appearance fees when he wont be appearing? Why would pay him goal bonuses and performance bonuses?
Of course his contract, wages etc and loss of spnsorship money are all guesswork _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

Why did North Lanarkshire Council not take this action 4/5 years ago? |
The stadium had previously been under the management of North Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, a separate entity to the council, but is now directly under council control.

They're stipulated terms of his contract that the club are looking to terminate, so he's well within his rights to hold out for the maximum amount possible under that contract. He's not looking to end his deal, this is not a redundancy negotiation, the club have no bargaining chips here. I'm not suggesting he will do that but he can argue that under the terms of his deal he would be set to gain X based on appearances etc that the club are now denying him the opportunity to achieve. |

Fair enough Vinnie, but I'm afraid GP is closer to the mark than you are, my figures are on the conservative side. DG was on £1000/week on his last contract I doubt he was willing to terminate it 4 months early for less with us, in any case I'm happy to accept the amount was (or was north of) £1100/week, it was quoted to be a 2.5 yr deal (130 weeks?), even at £1k/week thats £130,000. As for the transfer fee it was widely speculated at the time to be £50k+, I've heard from 2 different sources it was a bit over £60k (one was a surprised but elated Clyde fan who's in with the bricks at the Bully Wee). The Clyde fan told me 2 years ago we were after him and that he was on £1k/week. He also said we and Falkirk were after him in December and then on January 31st told me he was coming to Rovers.
I'd imagine that only the people who negotiated the deals know the exact figures and thats why I can only speculate on his wage but the transfer fee, I'd be prepared to put my life savings on that's well over £50,000.
But here's the thing, if this is all wind and piss and it was only costing us peanuts, I'd imagine the board would have been far more up front than they have been. That they've continually run for cover for the last 4 weeks suggests that it's a colossal financial screw-up. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

I'd imagine both figures for the transfer fee will be close to the mark.
It would probably be 50 grand plus VAT, therefore 60 grand in total. _________________ Dougie Hill

Guess he either finds a gig abroad somewhere in the summer or we pay him off for full (or very close to full) amount he is due.
Wonder if Val got in touch with the Clyde women explaining the publicity they could muster pulling a stunt like that? Certainly wasn’t an issue for them the last several years with Goodwillie spearheading Clyde as captain and top goal scorer. |

Utter shambles, with no realistic end in sight.
Surely the only way out of this for the board to face up to the fact that they themselves (not RRFC) are going to have to shell out to cover the cost.
Sim £50,000
McDonald £50,000
Sinton £50,000
Morgan £50,000
That'd cover most if not all of what the bad deal it's self cost.
This years AGM will be interesting, anyone know when it is?
