After the success of the Whisky tasting last month we are having the long awaited (1st planned for June last year!) Rum tasting.
There's 100's of different rums not just the white or Demerara stuff and to dispel the myth I have 5 bottles of rum that I'd wager 90% of non rum drinkers will never have heard of but the collective worth is still over £200 so its very lucky (for us) that most of them have been donated for the day.
The whisky tasting and raffles have been doing well and once we had our rum we should be in a position to be able to donate £1200 to the supporters fund.
There are still a handful of tickets left and at £20 for 5 decent sized nips (25ml) and a pie why not PM me for a ticket and come down to the 200 club next Sunday at 1pm support the venture and enjoy the craic. If you like rum then honestly you'll be in for a real treat and if you don't because you have been poisoned with some inferior rum in the past you may find like I did that there is far more to the stuff than just Baccardi and OVD. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Brown 2, Connell 2, McBride 2, Frederiksen 1, OG 1. |

Enjoy your rum day today Scotty. I won't be there, but I hope you'll understand why after this wee story...and please, especially for the youngsters amongst you, don't try this at home
Back in the day, my "friends" (you know who you are) thought they'd help me celebrate my 21st birthday in style with a night out around Kirkcaldy's hot-spots . But the night started quieter than planned and so, with pubs still closing early back then, they decided to up the ante, with the challenge to me to have 21 drinks on my 21st. Being a callow youth, and with 4 or 5 pints already downed, I set off on that quest.
Rum was the chosen vehicle to achieve the 'goal'. And so 16 dark rums later (some with crabbies, some with black, just for variety) I reached the appointed destination. Unfortunately, it wasn't the Promised Land - indeed, it was a hideous hovel from Hell.
Forty-eight hours afterwards, life resumed again as normal, but I think you'll be able to work out why that particular tipple has never passed my lips since.
So enjoy the day and, as the ads now say, please drink responsibly! |
