In the beginning it was a great idea and a sound gesture, now I fear it has become commonplace and as such has lost some of the clout/sentiment behind it. Also I fear it gives the biggots and racists a banner to rise to and something to draw on when they get the chance (thinking of certain forgiven fans in the last Qual's).
I think the "Kick racism out" campaign last week has more enduring power behind it, but if I'm honest I think that probably needs some freshening up too.
Personally I'm all for players walking off if they've been abused in ANY way, this should be a tolerant, modern world with a multicultural society. |
It can also help identify those who disagree with the basic premise too…so… |
