1st half really good pass and move footy.
2nd half, I thought JM put on 10 trialists!!.

It is highly disconcerting to see this team play 45 mins of good footy and then 45 mins of “ my heads on fire” panic stations dross.
There appears to be a distinct lack of leadership on the park and off.

I know this is a young team in the main but management/coaches have to sort this out.
Success will not come by simply playing for 45mins each game.

I am well aware that the opposition can and do have a say in how a game pans out but the mindset appears to be 1 panic.....ALL panic.

We hardly strung 3 passes together second half.
I have said it before, ALL SPORT IS PLAYED IN THE HEAD FIRST AND FOREMOST.
Spend some money on getting “ a sport shrink in”.

These players HAVE TALENT, imo, more than most I have watched since the mid 60’s.

We have thrown away leads quite a few times and its NOT because the players do not have the skills or fitness, but more the lacking of leadership.

Imo we are watching a team with a huge amount of talent, BUT, there is something lacking.
I think the club should really look into game management. For 45 mins or thereabouts most weeks, we are a jeckle n Hyde team.

The club has to choose, accept that this is unlikely to change, OR, do something about it.

Coaching the physical side is 1thing. It’s the mental side that needs to improve.
WHOSE job is that?

Putting my tin hat on now.
Night night.

Thought the 1st half we played some great stuff, the 2nd half almost the polar opposite.Like others,it would be good to see us produce a consistent 90 mins

However, the aim before a game is to win it and bag the 3 points and we did that

Lang was my MOTM

Another 3 points from safety
Wink

"From safety?"🥴 I don't think we got beat.🤔
Perhaps "towards safety"?🤔

Have to agree with most of the comments so far.

I thought our first half performance was the best so far this season. We passed the ball, crossed well and beat the Air defence with ease. Two cracking goals and we were in easy street.

But its the Rovers!

Ayr made two subs and we lost total control of the game. We hadn't a clue how to counteract the changes Ayr made. We sorely missed Spencer and Riley Snow looked a lost soul, he didn't know his role. The rest of the side all lost their momentum and know how. And worse the coaches hadn't a clue how to fix it.

We got by with a lot of luck, Jamie MacDonald's amazing safe which saved the points.

Even Dario lost his nerve and skill

A great three points but its not easy on our fragile nerves.

PS I thought the referee was the best we have had for quite some time.

Jekyll and hyde performance.
Lang was immense but Tait seems to have lost it since hexstarted training with Hibs. Seemed almost disinterested at times.

Can't say I noticed any lack of interest from Tait on the pitch but I did notice he was straight down the tunnel at full time.
We sorely lack any pace up front with which we can counter attack with when we are under pressure. A Tade type player would be perfect for us.

I suppose Snow is a certainty not to get injured given the game passes him by. Thanks to MacDonald for preserving our lead. Thought Duffy made two excellent substitutions. We could use those two lads. Still I thought overall we were fortunate not to draw/lose but very grateful for the two goals from a superb first half performance - and to Lang and Berra an outstanding defence partnership. Maybe Bene isn’t a shoe in. Midfield - hope Matthews can steady that rocky boat next week. Special mention to Tait / excellent goal line clearance but hope he isn’t injured too badly. We would miss him.

Not at the Hamilton game Tam? Wink

Think Riley Snow is getting a hard time.He wasnt great but no worse than a number of other players in the 2 nd half.He aint no Matthews or Spencer but totally different type of player to either

any updates

I've noticed that they are late in starting most games now for whatever reason (s). Sometimes up to quarter of an hour into the game.

Thanks again.
I'll look into it.

Thank you El Jefe.

Tremendous 1st half where Ayr didn't have any answers and looked as if they didn't know what had hit them. At times our movement and passing was delightful.
As said the two Ayr substitutions and the likely hairdryer treatment from Duffy at half time had a massive effect in the way the 2nd half panned out. From absolutely bossing it we went to being 2nd for every ball all over the park.
Losing Spencer was massive too as Baise Riley Slow was miles off it! For such a big guy he often seems to struggle to impose himself on the deck and for such a tall guy he loses an awful lot of aerial challenges. The rest of the midfield were decent enough with Zanatta looking more like the player he was in the opening games of the season and Tait having a great game (at least IMO), Connolly was the pick of the midfielders though as he was immense.
Defensively we looked solid enough until Tumilty was sent for a hot-dog by Maxwell and then we were getting twitchy. Berra was solid despite being pushed and shove in every aerial challenge and while Dick had a good game I though Lang was excellent as was Jamie MacDonald who had a great game too.
Poplatnik was great and really gave Ayr problems in a way that Varian couldn't quite seem to emulate, possible due to his injury.
All in all I'd award 7 out of 10 all round except Lang (8), Macca (8), BRS (5) and Tumilty (6). If that seems harsh on RT it's purely because of his defensive failings, those aside he's a great wingback as the rest of his game is so good.

Above - meant Dick’s goal line headed clearance. Also Dick’s injury toward the end of the game. His clearance saved a certain goal.

Great post Cuparman.
Yes Vinnie the first half against the Accies was also a very good performance.
Spot on Scotty.

Agree too, this squad is probably the most talented group for a number of seasons.

Its just the failure to change things when under pressure that's very frustrating for the fans.

We should have a leader on the park but also every player on the park should be able to call things when required

I don't agree with the negativity in relation to Dylan Tait. He didn't play well against the Pars but he was excellent in the first half yesterday (even the brief highlights confirm that. ). Things didn't go so well in the second half but the entire team was affected and there was no lack of effort from him.
The lad has got real talent and a great future in the game. This is how it has to be at The Rovers, find talent ,bring them on, enjoy them whilst they are here and sell them with our best wishes.

He definitely was a cut above. He made a couple of wrong calls re corners but overall very good humoured and several times was clearly exchanging jokes with both teams.
