Basically, an attempt to form the biggest ever chain of thematically linked records. I've started it off with Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain". What you have to do is come up with a record that has a link to it, whether it be obvious or obscure.
Once someone has posted a song that has a link to the Fleetwood mac one, then another fantalker has to find another song with a link to that one, and so on and so on. Radcliffe & Maconie currently have a chain of over 1000 records. How well can we fantalkers do?
The only rules are:-
1 - Your chosen song must be a bona fide single or album track
2 - You must number your selection (ie. The Chain #41 - Artist and Title"
3 - An explanation of how that selection links to the previous one
4 - You cannot make two selections in a row. Once you make a selection, it's up to any other fantalker to follow it up.
Apart from a bit of fun, it may also have us seeking out tunes we otherwise may never have listened to.
Over to you -
THE CHAIN #1
Fleetwood Mac - "The Chain" from the album "Rumours" in 1977 |
The late great Ally Gourlay did state in the initial rules to explain the link but this seems to have faded away over the years. Personally, I would join in more if i understood more of the links. Some of the unusual choices and musical knowledge is impressive though. |
