Thanks Franco.............. got the letter but had to decline
And to think I gave up football for rugby............... maybe my size had something to do with it. (clue is in my moniker). If it turns out I need surgery that will be twice on both knees. _________________ Keeping the Faith (and the Missionary work!) |

Scotland midfielder Kenny McLean has been left "absolutely devastated" by a knee ligament injury that rules him out of this summer's Euro 2020 finals.
McLean has "significant damage" to the right-side medial collateral ligament. [BBC]
Feel for a guy who is an established member of the squad and would have been very confident of being named as one of the 26.
Although rarely seen as a sure starter, nevertheless another blow to Scotland and SC , especially as there are a series of games to play in rapid succession. Kenny has been very useful in coming on as a substitute to give others a breather/ hold our position/start in certain matches for
tactical reasons. He is also a nerveless and reliable penalty-taker and scored the odd important goal, too. |

Scotland fans have had their Hampden Euros tickets cancelled without warning.
Furious supporters only learned they’d missed out on the Croatia and Czech Republic games after Uefa refunded them out of the blue.
The footie body is running a ticket ballot as capacity at the Glasgow stadium has been slashed to about 12,000 to allow for social distancing at matches.
But many fans bought their briefs from Uefa two years ago — before Covid derailed permitted crowd numbers. [ The Scottish Sun]
The Scottish Sun may not have got it quite right and the SFA may intend to allocate tickets through the SSC points system as originally intended /''promised'' ? |

The 26-man Euros squad is due to be named by SC on Wednesday.
It's the extra three places which makes this interesting, as already discussed.
Latest injuries seem to be Oliver Burke (out with a fractured foot ) who had only an outside chance of being named ,anyway, and probably only if SC was uncharacteristically sentimental (because Ollie's last-minute winner against Cyprus at Hampden had rescued SC at the start of his career as Scotland manager ), nice as it would have been to have seen a Kirkcaldy- born player in the squad.
Of more relevance and importance is the operation that Ryan Fraser had last month. He wasn't fit to return last Friday ( although that would have been ahead of schedule). SC will be keen to have Ryan along, so may name him provisionally, subject to proving his fitness , either in Newcastle's remaining two games or in the Scotland warm-up games.
Much of the focus will be on whether or not any of Turnbull, Gilmour or Gauld make the squad and I rate their chances in that order. None of them, though, are natural fits to replace Ryan Jack and Kenny McLean. ( I say that with the caveat that I haven't seen Ryan Gauld play since he left Scotland ). |

Fleck returns a positive covid text whilst at the Scotland camp.
Really hope this is isolate to only him and he makes a speedy recovery. |

I was surprised when the initial announcement suggested that only John Fleck need isolate.
However, six more is a heck of a lot. Slightly concerning. Hopefully, just a precaution against any possible unwelcome requirements imposed once the squad returns to the UK (especially after the Czech and Croatians interpretation of Scotland's rules ie one out, all out )
But there is still considerable disruption to our preparations, as it seems very likely that the team against The Netherlands would have included several of the six.
Possibly ,only Craig Gordon will be happy. Certainly, Steve Clarke won't be.
Let's hope, also, that Scott McTomilay and Billy Gilmour don't turn up with the Virus. |

Can't read too much into warm-up games, but few comments.
Not sure if Craig Gordon's display would affect SC's decision as to starting keeper. For a game against the Netherlands, surprisingly, there were not too many saves to make. CG did make one good reflex save ,when called upon and nothing he could do about the first goal. SC and the goal-keeping coach, however, will look at the set-up of the wall (CG's responsibility ) and CG's own positioning at the second equaliser.
Che Adams will start the game against the Czechs. Up until now, Dykes was a near certainty to sub for him in the closing stages. But, Kevin Nisbet's goal and display must give SC room for thought if Scotland are chasing a goal late on. (If Adams is injured early on , then I expect Lyndon Dykes to come on, though ).
I thought Ryan Fraser would have started , as he needs minutes in his legs. Was it because ,with the Covid withdrawals, James Forrest was better suited to wing-back that RF didn't come on until the last half-hour? Or, is RF not to be in the starting line-up ? (He would be in mine, if match sharp ) |

Decent warm up but hard to gauge how serious Holland were taking it.
Turnbull done his chances no harm, Hendry done well too.
I doubt it will happen but we could do worse than start Dykes AND Adams, especially as Fraser isn’t likely to be fit to start 1st game |

Typical Scotland luck
Guessing Mason Mount will need to self isolate having been in wee Gilmours back pocket on Friday _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME

Pedantic alert coming in Vinnie!
The guy is Mason Mount.
Conjurs up all sorts of thoughts where that name came from.🤔
Still fully agree with your sentiments regarding Billy's back pocket!😂 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
