The Courier is linking us with Christophe Berra - going as far as to say we're about to sign him on a pre-contract.
I hope this is another April Fool story.
He's absolutely done - played in every Hearts defeat bar one this season, slower than a week in Barlinnie and can't mark his man without fouling.
The only time I've seen him move quickly in recent years was when he chased the linesman for not flagging at Nisbet's goal against Hearts in the league cup at Bayview a couple of seasons ago, despite the fact that it was him who played Nisbet a yard and a half onside. _________________ Dougie Hill

Hopefully lazy journalism with the McGlynn/Hearts connection.
Very good defender in his day but that ship has sailed. |

Surely not!!!!
This would rank alongside the signings of Daly and Skacel. |

Got to say I have been thinking this over the last week or so. However, where we are now, we must surely be thinking away from done in cart horses. |

Well I must be the only one thinking this is a good signing then... Bene isn’t exactly Mo Farrah and he’s our best defender and captain just now. He’s played at the highest level and for at least a season he’ll have something to give and loads of experience to pass on to the likes of McKay and Lang. Davo will probably be going you’d think, maybe heading down a leave into a coaching role - he’s a year older than Berra and not exactly a “cart horse”.
Used in the right way Berra would be great for us IMO. _________________ RIP RONNIE |

Looks as if a deal is done by the front page headline.
Ah well! So be it if that's the case.
Mind you on second thoughts he might be ok for a season or two at the most.
I think back to the days when Bobby Evans played at the age of 37/8 and wasn't ever the fastest even by standards of fitness back then. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Could it be like for like Davo away and Berra in a two year deal it's scary. I hope there's a clause in it that he can be released if it's not working out. |

He's agreed a two year deal.
It's official in the Rovers Digest which I have just received.
Ah well! Can only wish Christophe all the best despite my reservations if it's the right thing/move.
Might he be a back up for a departing Davo? _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Anyone watching Berra over the last year knows he is well past it. Must surely be the end of Davo. |

Another strange signing. Main positive means it HAS to be the end of Davo!
If we remain in Championship, I’m sure Berra can do a job, great experience, a leader on the park, a role model... Would like to think an either/or for Bene with a younger/more athletic defender beside them.
I’ve enjoyed eating out at Frankie and Bene’s, best restaurant we’ve had in a while...
Any chance of waking up tomorrow to hear from club how Frankie has signed on again, Dave McKay is close to full recovery and Davo has signed a pre contract at Burntisland Shipyard? |

Now that I've recovered from the shock, I shall trust in McGlynn and give this the benefit of the doubt
But I'd much rather have read the news that we've re-signed Hendry and Musonda and Vaughan
And Hibs have let the Hammer join us permanently |

I think it's a given that Davo will be gone one way or another at the end of the season. It would be a shame to lose Frankie or Henry.
Vaughan - has that one crept up on us? Both he and the club have stuck together through bad times and terrible bad luck. Only in the Pars game did we see that after injury, he has not become a less-than-sharp Liam Buchanan type and is still as good as ever. I hope we get him signed before our rivals come a-sniffing! I say "rivals" because he won't be proven enough, this time around, for the Premiership, yet proved on Tuesday that he is too good for lower leagues. I couldn't really see Vaughan signing for a like-for-like club. Could it be the club themselves waiting to see how he gets on?
Could it be that McGlynn is strengthening the broader squad with less than impressive players (James Keating aside) in order to jolt unsigned players into a reality check. The shock of the Berra signing seems more bad than good, at first glance, but as has been pointed out, this board and management-team know what they are doing. |

Imagine and hope it’s more of a coaching step for him. No problem with that. _________________ Here Wee go again |
