So - the return of the bogey team. We have a poor record against them, compared to many teams. It will be interesting to see if lessons have been learned, both from our game against them and from the Austria game. A Scotland win would be a huge morale booster.

Rant: Sportsound promised the last hour would be discussing and previewing the Israel v Scotland game. However, after final whistles, since POOR Hearts lost again - Rolling Eyes - the entire discussion was about all Hearts - until just FOUR MINUTES from the end of the damn program!Rolling Eyes End of rant!

At least Craig Levein concluded by stating that Rovers would finish second in the Championship and Scotland would win tomorrw night! All I needed to know really! Wink

I'm just holding the thought - while it lasts! Wink Very Happy

Craig Levein and Willie Miller think that the Scotland squad ought to get more balls into thwe box. I agree - not that the pair of them got many balls into the box in their combined managerial careers!

Not looking forward to us locking horns with Israel again. They seem to have our number ,despite their results against other teams ( and their ranking ) suggesting that they are not very good.
I'd go with Che Adams and Fraser up front . McTominay must continue in midfield and let Hendry grow into the RCB role.
Should Hanley play or be replaced by McKenna? I don't know McKenna's current form but Hanley could have been sent off long before half time. Mind you, his sheer big physical shape bearing down on goal seemed to intimidate the Austrian defence, and keeper in particular, when he did score!
It goes without saying that Super John McGinn plays. The question is if SC will play him in a more advanced role this time.
Not sure what we do about KT looking much better attacking down the left than Robbo. I guess Andy allows him to go on the overlap and covers for him.
Scott McTominay is right. We need to be less tentative when playing Israel and seek to dominate them from the first minute to the end of the game.

Wee diversion - if Luxembourg win their game in hand they will top their group which contains Portugal

Good luck to the lads tonight

We all see things differently!
I thought Fraser and Adams were two of our better players.
Conversely, thought that the midfield under-preformed.
Two previous heroes , John McGinn and David Marshall, had poor games.
Against lower-ranked teams we should play four at the back , with Tierney being our LB.

Second half was better but that may be down to how far we were out of it the first half

Clarks change at half time made the slight difference

Israel kinda mind me of us,tidy team, comfortable on the ball but when closed down/ pressed no so much

Must win against the Faroes now

Stood off and admired them for 45mins which makes NO sense when we KNOW them so well and know they are a good side with the ball.

Playing catch up already but not too late as Denmark and Austria are beatable.

Agree 100% with the first bit Starksbarmy. If we had the back four in the first half, I reckon it would have been a Scots win.

We do have a mountain to climb now - after just three days into the campaign. Of all teams eligable to progress, that could only happen to Scotland! Denmark are now four points ahead of us and a better goal-difference by TEN goals - after just two games. All eyes will now be on Austria slipping up more than we do. Not good!

For me, we were always playing for a playoff as I believe Denmark at the best team in out group. For second place and a playoff its between Scotland, Austria and Israel. There is not much between the 3 sides and think it will go all the way for 2nd place.
