So it should have been what a 4-0 or 5-0 win?
Denmark scored just as late to win in the Faroes, Austria scored late to secure the points and still struggled all of which proves they arenít the pushovers they used to be.
This game was similar to Saturday after a poor opening half against Israel, come the second half it was one side attacking all out and one holding on trying to hit on the break. Just thank god our pressure came to fruition Ö.eventually!

Wasnít pretty, wasnít convincing and wasnít good for our blood pressure but at the end of the day it was job done. I have seen Scotland do better (since my 1st WC in 74) of course I have but in the last 20 - 30 years Iíve seen a hell of a lot worse and at least this lot wanted it right up to the end (94 min on Saturday mind!!) and for me thatís a massive improvement on a lot of the inbetween years.

We are a nation of 5.5M trying to find our way back onto the world footballing stage, some people are a tad out of touch with reality.

A win is a win and I'm very happy.
I think it must have been Embow and Tam who used to sit behind me at SP. Certainly, it was two guys who just loved to moan , even in the Jimmy Nic era!

Two gentlemen who should simmer doon, sit back wi a dram and chill the * oot and just enjoy where we are, after all it easily could be a s***e sight worse!

We are far from world beaters/the finished article/competent but we are at least making moves in the right direction.

Lady Luck was shining on us brighter than the floodlights tonight! We robbed the Faroes, but how many times have Scotland been robbed? Usually we have been robbed by officials. At least we know the Faroes squandered their chances - while we somehow managed to convert one of ours. As long as lessons are learned, it will do! I'll take some luck any day of the week - deserved or otherwise!

Denmark have now won the group at home. Whether they now look to go out on a high, or just try out new things, remains to be seen.

Austria have nothing to play for. We are out of their reach now - but they are in the play-offs anyway, through the Nations League. That could be bad news for us, as they are our best bet to take something from Israel, when the two sides meet in Vienna next month.

It's a two-horse-race for second place - and right now, we are winning it. Beat Moldova and it is a play-off place. Israel are at home to the Faroes the day that we are at home to Denmark. I can't see the Faroes taking anything from that at all. At the very least, I would not like our play-off spot to hinge on Israel dropping points against the Faroes or us taking something from Denmark on top of that, although the bookies might tempt you withmassive odds to put a wee wager on both!

I don't blame Stevie Clarke one bit for being euphoric. Yes, it was sheer luck, it was nerve-wracking, it was ugly - but look at where we are - look at what he has built! We are not Denmark, or Greece or Croatia - but we are no longer an international laughing stock either. Which other Scotland manager, since Craig Brown, would anybody fancy being in charge instead of him?

We,re riding our luck but long overdue

We could and should have been 3 down at half time but we managed to scrape a win which at the end of the day is all that matters

Think we,re capable of getting the result needed against Moldova to get us to the play offs but play offs are a different matter

Ps

Good to see there was no booing of the national anthem unlike Saturday

Wasnít good but 2nd half was much better if a little slow in the build up.

Faroes have played decent in all their home games this campaign and deserve credit.

This was always a result 1st, performance 2nd game, many times down the years we wouldnít have won this type of game so Iím grateful!

Can't disagree with this. Spot on.
Total reality. 👍

Not entirely sure I fully subscribe to the we should have been 3 down by half-time ethos, yes they had chances and yes some were guilt edged but at the end of the day they missed em all, as did we with our lesser chances.
Over the 90 we had 68% possession, 19/9 shots at goal and 9/5 on target, all of which points to a team with the bulk of the good things going for it over the 90Ö..but only the one stat counts and most importantlythat went in our favour too.

As I see it we are a work in progress. Our aim has to be to get to where Wales ( and Northern Ireland) and Poland are and where the Republic of Ireland were. To do so we need to get up from being 3rd pot seeds and into the second pot. This gives a massive help in qualifying from groups, and in doing so (by making finals) the team plays more games together ultimately making them gel and play better.

In international football you just donít go from 70th to to the top 20 even if you discover a class of 92 style group, it takes time. Years ago Belgium were below us and look at them now, I suppose the Congolese colony was a boon to themÖ..if only the Darian venture had worked eh?

Seriously though Iím chuffed to be where we are, in with a great shout of finishing 2nd which not only gives us a shot at a WC playoff spot but (I believe) also assures us 2nd seed pot status in the next Euro Qualifiers.

Scotland have routinely faced 1-2 or 3 teams better than them in qualifying where as in the Nations league we have done better because we havenít had to play one pot 1 side and or (or 2) of a similar stature. I see our being 2nd seeds as crucial to our development. England always always qualify because as 1st seeds because they never ever have a Spain, Portugal, Germany or France (and Italy) in their group, as second seeds we may not qualify automatically but it will enhance our chances (although, admittedly it hasnít worked out for Austria this time out).

I'll have you know that I absolutely drooled at the mouth every game during the Jimmy Nic era anytime I was able to attend which alas wasn't often. That was the way a football team should be trying to play.
We are also a nation of 5.5 million much the same as Denmark. The similarities stop there as far as football goes. However if they step up to the plate and beat Denmark then I will certainly be one of the first to congratulate them. Seeing as Denmark have yet to concede a goal then even scoring a goal will be a decent achievement.😉

Do Denmark get too much respect in this group? This outright 100% record is very unusual, even for much more fancied sides like Italy or Germany. While they deserve to win the group, are teams in this group just a bit too afraid of them? England beat them and while Denmark are currently streets ahead of us, it will be interesting to see how they get on in the group stages.

Seedings a bit complicated to me but apparently
while right now, looks good, things can change. Moldova games likely get struck off (to match up with the 5 team groups) & a defeat v DEN might be enough to get pushed into unseeded category.

Embow, then it wasn't you who sat behind me in those days, and I don't think ,seriously ,that it was Tam, either. Very sorry that you missed so many of those Halcyon days for The Rovers.
But you and I are different species. I follow both Raith and Scotland, always looking, and hoping, for the best , take great pleasure at any victory, joy at the rare high spots and , when things don't go so well, still support BOTH teams and try to see any positives. We are all different.
For Scotland there are positives, at present, although frustrations too. My hope is that the club feeling that the squad has, and the more they play together, will lead to greater success, including competing successfully against teams ranked higher than us. Despite that hope, I'll be incredibly nervous, still, when we play against low-ranking Moldova next month.😂
Scotty and Neil, your posts make great sense.

Craig Gordon saves the blushes as Scotland pass up umpteen chances in the first twenty minutes.
Will this end well?
Looking like it will now Scotland have the all important second goal.😊
The usual scary stuff with the penalty but well done Scotland's Dino Zoff and Tierney for tidying up.
Job done so far.
