Backlash - interesting phrase when we are talking about punishment. I imagine the origins are just that - lashing the back!
Wonder what was really said and what led up to the incident to provoke such an outburst. Probably never know exactly what happened and in Scots law there might be an unproven verdict or is that just in trial by jury? Hope Davo is admonished and plays at least through the playoffs - I am confident 🤓 |
This is the SFA that is hearing this, any law normal goes out the window. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

Racism claim dismissed?
If true he could still be banned for misconduct on discriminatory and inflammatory language. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Gullan 7, Easton 7, Stanton 6, Vaughan 5, Dick 3, Akio 2, Brown 2, Connell 2, Goncalves 2, McBride 2, Frederiksen 1, McGill 1, Nolan 1, OG 1. |

It goes without saying that racism is abhorrent. To the best of my knowledge, Bulgarians are white Caucasians, as a result of which a reference to such an individual's country of origin would be crass and offensive, but certainly not racist. What would happen if one of ours referred to an opponent as a Pars *!%$*, or a cheating $8$%!* during a heated moment? Whilst Davo's reaction was OTT, and costly, Todorov's blood curdling scream and reaction following what looked like minimal contact must have been sair tae bear. |

For the record I believe referring to someone's nationality in an offensive manner is classed as racism by the UN and the EU. Unsure about UK law but I'd imagine it to be similar. Not that I believe that Iain Davidson is a racist. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

I was unaware of the EU/UN definitions, which appear to be an inaccurate interpretation of the terminology. There's a very significant difference between race/ethnicity and nationality. Davo's reaction was certainly 'robust', but I don't believe for a second that he's a racist. |

If that's the case, anyone who's been at a Scotland v England international is a likely culprit. I for one am guilty, m'lud, as I have called them all, from Alan Ball and Norman Hunter, to Beckham and Scholes, Shearer and the rest English b******s at one point or another during various clashes.
[By the way, to be clear, I wasn't actually playing in opposition to them at the time, but I still felt that my voice, and the 100,000+ others, had the desired effect....] |

If this is true, SCotty, then good news that common sense has prevailed. But if he is charged with using inflammatory language, then just about all 1,500 professional footballers in Scotland, not to mention countless thousand amateurs, should be standing in the dock beside Davo.. |

Nothing's been dismissed, or dropped
They've adjourned proceedings, to be continued at a later (as yet, unspecified) date: https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish-fa/football-governance/disciplinary/disciplinary-updates/ |

The more games Davo gets in before that next hearing, the better. |

If that's the case, it would be the day before the last games, which are all on a Friday. Hard to see past anything other than further suspensions for Davo tbh. Resigned to being without him for the last game and the play-offs. |

I think what is galling is that his presence against Hearts may have changed the outcome of the game - maybe not - but there is never any compensation for these erroneous game changing decisions. Maybe JMG is philosophical about this but for me I find it infuriating.
But good to have him back and hopefully he will be the decisive factor on Saturday and beyond. _________________ Here Wee go again |

From official website.
The outcome of todays SFA Disciplinary Hearing for Rovers player Iain Davidson has been confirmed.
The Rovers player will have to serve a 4 match suspension (with 2 of those suspended), and will
also have to complete a FIFA e-learning course before playing again.
The club has accepted the decision of the panel in full. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

So is his ban for racism or something else? I note that what ever it is the club have accepted it.
If its racism, please show him the door, no questions asked. |

For me a 4 match suspension(2 suspended) along with some FIFA course doesnt come across as anything relating to racism.Just seems lenient if it was the case. _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |
