That depends if he comes back and finds a bit of form and starts to get into the goals or performs at the same level as Varian does for the team. For me right now Varian is the benchmark for our centre forward and is fairly integral to our way of playing and the players around him, he doesn't get many goals but he creates enough of a problem for defenders that our other players benefit.
If Keatings can do that or can allow us to change our way of playing enough that he can get 10-15 goals, absolutely a way back for him, as there would be for any player. We're not exactly flush with cash to have passengers (not including long term injured) around the squad |

Taken from the other channel. Part of a post on yesterday's win over Clyde.
Things not going too well right now if this is any indication.
What’s the story with Keatings? He’s not offering much .. doesn’t run behind .. doesn’t hold it up for others .. isn’t clinical. Hopefully, he just needs game time and will come good because a clinical finisher could see us win this league. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

In response to “No…nope” to a question about any Keatings usefulness, another poster said:
“A bit harsh. Didn't see yesterday's game but was ar Queens Park a couple of weeks back. I thought he looked decent. Some really good runs making a real nuisance of himself.” |

More positive reviews on the other channel:
“Watching the highlights back there, he played a delightful ball in the lead up to the first goal, was unlucky with a shot at the near post, where the keeper makes a great save and he was slightly disappointed that he never received the pass, whilst wide open as Milne slots home his second.” |

Played the full 90’ and looked good, per Montrose fans. |

Hopefully the first of many for him.
Hopefully his loan move serves its purpose and he gives us an extra attacking option for the run in. _________________ Dougie Hill

Goals like that for The Rovers in the second half of the season will do just fine.
Although curious as to why he was not appearing for us, especially after LV was out injured, can't understand those who have written off James, without even waiting to see how he gets on at Montrose. |

A wee bit ponderous if I'm being super critical but a tidy finish nonetheless. Looks like Montrose have re-laid their artificial turf, certainly looks better than the last time I watched the rovers up there a couple of seasons back _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Agreed it’s not the most fluid of pivots, but the delivery is bang on to defeat the keeper. Certainly good to see, as that’s the kinds of ball we generate at a decent pace. |

The East Fife keeper should have saved it IMO. And that Montrose shirt is smart. |

Basing this on absolutely nothing but I've got a feeling we won't see Keatings again in a Raith jersey. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Never made it off the bench today, despite being 2 - 0 down at one point. |

To be honest I doubt he'd make our bench the way things are currently going. Something has gone wrong for James whether fitness or some other health matter or just maybe come to the end of his football playing days at senior level. I'm struggling to understand why we signed him unless it was a cunning plan to stop him scoring against us, which he did far too regularly!🥺 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
