You really are some machine Gav.
Can't understand how putting Rock the Rovers topic on this site can stop it from being promoted on the official website, what a nonsense. |

Just to clarify the above comment.
This RtR thread on Fantalk was started in January and had numerous updates added since then with a list of the bands being posted on 6th June.
At no point was I asked to help advertise RtR until 13th July by which time most people already knew about all there is to know, so there was no point in me repeating what they already knew at that time, coupled with the fact that the pre-season friendlies had started and the time I had available to prepare and put articles on the website along with all the behind the scenes stuff that you don't see, was severely restricted, bearing in mind that I also work full-time.
I never at any point said that I can't put anything on the website.
What I did say was that I didn't see any point in telling people what they already knew, but I will run an update at some point
There are people who know me, and there are people who think they know me, and as anyone who does know me will tell you, I have 'battled' with people both inside and outside of the club for years in order to get you ALL the Rovers news as soon as possible and before you read it anywhere else.
There has never been a RtR that hasn't been covered on the website, both prior to and after the event, and the website has always given it more coverage than it’s ever had anywhere else ie - 2006 and 2006 pictures and it will continue to get coverage, but I would ask anyone who wishes to have anything put on the website to note that I never post second hand news on the site.
If the news appears anywhere else, I don't see the point in me telling people what they already know.
There are people who continually come on the forum and slag the website for not being first to tell you the news and it's a bit ironic that the person who has fought more than most, for longer than most (me), is the one that continually gets slaughtered which I don't mind because if they're talking about me, they're leaving everyone else alone.
I am always more than happy to take the time and give space on the website to any event that benefits the Rovers or the fans, as I have done for more years than I care to remember, and I don’t care whether it’s Fife’s Finest or Raith Trust or Geordiemunrovers or Old Relics or ALL Rovers fans, but if you want me to do so you'll have to tell me before you tell the rest of the world, otherwise there's no point in me telling them. |

I disagree Jim. Surely the more publicity for events the better? Some people only read the main site, they don't all read all the topics on Fantalk. |

As far as I'm aware, under-18s can get in until 7pm and there certainly has been youngsters at RTR in the past. However the licensing laws may have changed since so don't quote me on that. |

Here is a wee update after i spoke to harlem management today as regards a few things but also the age limit. This year kids under 18 can get in till 8pm but will have to be out after that as rules are tightening.Apparently things are changing also in all clubs as from monday so for instance at next years rtr if at same venue or any venue under 18s would have to be in a seperate SUPERVISED AREA.Obviously parents with youngsters would be able to be with them and still see the gig. There is also a chance folk may be asked for 2 forms of ID if they are or look under 25 and this is in all clubs etc etc.Anyone under 18 caught drinking are subject to a £1000 fine with the staff serving them unknowing or not getting a £5000 fine. This is fact as i saw the clubs posters that will be in full view come sunday plus this will be happening in tesco`s,asda etc etc.Prices for sunday are for kids under 12 £5 but with it being a fundraiser i dont have a complaint if their parents pay full whack if you know what i mean Kids over 12 and adults are £10 and there is plenty tkts on sale as pre sales have been slow which set alarm bells ringing a bit. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

I don't have the stamina for the full day at RtR but managed visits in the afternoon and again in the evening. Fantastic stuff from all involved. SoW deserves another wee medal (or fridge magnet) and the others who make it all work are superb. The groups who entertained us-and remember a number of them could earn 4-figure sums for the same performances-don't short change us but pull out all the stops. I met up with loads of folk who would never go to the games but wouldn't miss RtR for anything and on the day become Raith Supporters. To all who haven't been, I can tell you the atmosphere was almost as good as the day before. I hope there is a RtR-6 and those who don't think it's their scene should give it a try. You will be amazed!! _________________ It's a Mystery!! |

Tremendous event again, and some great bands. Highlight for me was Bad Boogaloo, great original take on some classic songs and a tremendous spinning double base!
pics from the event here. |
