The truth is quite simply that we are not good enough.
QP comfortable with a few minutes to go and leading two nil. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Fair point Vinnie, regarding consistency.
Maybe I should have said "too often not good enough." _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Cove one up at Firhill. Accies one up v Dundee. Arbroath one up v Raith.
Aye! Who would have thought it?
On the bright side there's still a fair bit to go today and the rest of the season. But!.......🤔 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Morton giving a decent dunt to QP so far, early into the second half.
Final result 3-2 Morton means we've dropped back down to sixth in the league. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Cove getting overrun atm , still 0-0 though dont know what's the best result here for us not that it matters, as on our current form if its kept tight at the top ........ we might just sneak it in the business end |

“Best result” here is a Cove win, it keeps the gap at 6 with Dundee having one game in hand…but I can see the argument for keeping Cove 8 points back being better. The good news overall is Queen’s, Dundee and Ayr are all looking a bit wobbly right now…but with 4th through 7th within 2 points (although they all have a game in hand on us) it’s not a far stretch anyway. |

I mean, barring a miraculous upturn in form, it’s unlikely any of the bottom three will reach 40pts come the end of play and certainly not two of them meaning we are only a couple of wins from safety in my opinion.
This all adds up to us focusing on what’s above us. We have three of the sides above us in the next three fixtures with none of them being in great form. I know it’s a tough ask but if we can come out of those with maybe 6pts+ then we are more than in the picture at the top end.
This season has plenty left to play for on all fronts which is great for everyone involved with the club |

Empirically, you are nearly exactly correct. Historically, an average of 39 points is scored by 8th, but 9th scores only 36, so 37 is a pretty decent first goal…4 points away. Even on current form, we’d expect the Accies to score 28-32 points and Arbroath 30-33, so we might already be “safe”. Since 00-01, 42 points is the highest 9th place total, and only 7 times of 22 has the 9th place team exceeded 38 points, so 2 more wins is solid, 3 is near golden.
On current form (not allowing for recent changes in form) we’d expect Dundee to win with 66, Queen’s second with 64-65 and Ayr at 63-64. After that, Morton in 4th (53), Partick 5th (52), ICT 6th (50) and Raith 7th (49-50). Trailing the pack we have Cove 8th (37-3 , Arbroath 9th (31-32) and Accies 10th (2 . |

Half time scores going fine so far.
A wee rejuvenation at Partick perhaps? _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Probably about the best we could have desired, especially the Cove/Arbroath draw. |
