Great news Rossco extending his contract. He is a very important part of our midfield blend, which is being appreciated more in recent times. |

Great news, probably the first name on the team sheet these days when fit, just brings a different level of bite to the midfield and has a hell of an engine on him. Hopefully the first of many renewals, but he would have been the first one I wanted to get tied down. |

In the FFP today JMcG talks about bringing in Tom Lang on a pre-contract:
“In the last wee while we've brought a few players into the club, none of them were defenders so we're obviously looking at that all the time.
“We've got a number of defenders out of contract at the end of the season so we are looking to strengthen in those areas.”
Reading between the lines, is there a hint that Frankie Musonda is not over- anxious to commit to The Rovers for another season? 🤔 |

There is more than Frankie out of contract and I’d imagine a few will keep their options open, especially players from further afield who are here to put themselves in the shop window. Whether any of them actually get any offers from better teams in better leagues remains to be seen.
They may be more than happy to go to the premier league with us🙄 _________________ Davie McGurn gone but never forgotten! |

You are right , Spot On, but I mentioned Frankie specifically, because JMcG referred to defenders.
Both our full-backs and Bene are signed for next season ,so I was considering the other defenders:
Assuming he's wanted (and if he recovers he will be ) , Dave McKay would surely re-sign once fit?🤔
Davo isn't likely to be offered a ''normal'' , if any , further year's contract.
Nando is Nando.
So, by a process of elimination, I jaloused that Frankie wasn't falling over himself to re-sign.
As you say , SO, so are plenty of our players especially, but not exclusively, in the forward areas
who will have been approached but are either holding off or would prefer to play elsewhere.
It would be marvellous if we were to go up😄 , but if that happened, I suspect some of our present
forwards (a fit LV aside ) would not be the players to compete at that level. |

After last night's fabulous performance , in front of the TV cameras , it is , probably and realistically, best to enjoy some of those players whilst they are still in the blue of The Rovers!
Before the Derby game was to be screened, originally, JMCG ,somewhat tellingly commented that he hoped players would perform well when putting in the shop window.
For example , Hamilton have long been rumoured to be interested in Regan Hendry and Brian Rice was in attendance at the match. He commented on Lewis Vaughan ,but was asked to do so . Probably, he agreed the question beforehand and could have deflected from his interest in Regan?
But , is there still an opportunity for The Rovers to secure some players on contract extensions for next season? Could that be conditional on promotion being secured? Some informal verbal agreements on that basis (and ,if so, honoured) ?
Even if players move on and up , we can't grudge them that , as , this season, they have provided bright spots in the gloom of the Pandemic. A way to go yet , though, and every game a tough one, for different reasons. |

Would like to think it would take more than Hamilton Accies to turn Hendry’s head!
There were apparently four or five premier league managers at Starks last night. While I can understand the Livi manager wanting a close look at us but why the others in these times? People urged to stay home but they (some) travel to other side of Country to watch a game of football that is on TV anyway? What exactly are the rules when ‘football’ people show up at the front entrance? |

Agreed re Hamilton Accies, SB - also, good question re 'football people' turning up at matches.
On the first point - if Regan does leave, I really, really hope it is to go to England, as I'd hate to see him fulfilling his promise and doing well with any other Scottish club.
On the second point - I guess it counts as them doing their job and, given that sport ihas a general exemption from travel restrictions etc, then they're entitled to visit Stark's Park and bow in deferntial awe at the tactical masterclass on display |

I think I heard somewhere that there was a limit on how many could attend games but that may have been about the English leagues but it was certainly put into place. There again things change that rapidly who knows. |

I think maybe Brian Rice was looking at potential playoff opponents rather then possible signings.
St Mirrens Jim Goodwin was also in attendance. I suspect he was looking at players. If he was looking at Euan Murray then I suspect he no longer is now. |

John McGlyn's trip to Dens last week for the 3-2 TV game certainly helped things!👍😃 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Wild question...would it be worth the chance to offer Hendry a contract for next year, contingent on promotion? I know it seems insane, but it would tie Hendry to us if we somehow get promoted, something we would desperately need. I know I’d like a contract that would get us some dish for losing Hendry, but that horse seems out of the barn now. |

Most footballers & their families want security. Greta managed to keep better players than they should have because they offered longer contracts, typically 3
years. They didn't offer hugely better terms just longer deals. I'd like Rovers to
try this with 2-3 more of our key players. |

How do you know the contractual details of the Gretna players? |

Seeing someone suggest that we follow Gretna's model reminded me it's April Fool's day. _________________ Dougie Hill
