Robbie Thomson signed a 1 year deal, there is no way he's spending that time out on loan from the club, it makes no sense from out point of view. I think he and MacDonald will challenge it out for the number 1 spot with McGurn more of a coaching capacity

This 100%. Who's to say which of them will be #1, or for how long? Competition for places in the team is the main key here.

Would expect Mac to be #1 with Thomo #2 but encouraged to push him all the way.

This is the key. We really have two keepers, an emergency keeper (McGurn) and a modern apprentice (Bow). My question here would be what is Bow’s level of experience. As a modern apprentice, we expect him to be learning behind the scenes rather than starting, so is he anywhere near usable as an emergency keeper yet?

On the bonus front, in the right circumstance, with Thomson signed, he is available to move to another team as a middle of the road, proven League One level keeper if someone comes asking and he hasn’t impressed JMcG. We now have a proven Championship keeper (who has seldom had injury woes) and some (thin) cover behind for a short season.

Good keeper. With Thompson backing up think we are in good shape for the n.o 1 jersey.

This guy is an absolute rock! So glad we signed him, he certainly broke his former employers hearts at Rugby Park yesterday. In a great team performance he was my MotM.

Good interview and imo certainly 1 of the best I have seen in a rovers shirt.
Up there with bobby Reid and Mc dermot.
In fairness, we have had a few lemons BUT we have had our share of some real good ones to.
Thomson wiznae bad either.
I love the fact that he is two footed, calm under pressure, Marshall’s the defence and is particularly reliable.
His age is to his advantage, his experience is invaluable to this young team.

Hard to gauge how many points he is worth throughout the season, but it would be well into double figures methinks.

CLASS.

Certainly kept us in it yesterday, would have lost by at least 3 or 4 but for his saves.

Thanks for this Willie.

As said above, he is indeed a great keeper and we are VERY lucky to have him.

The video, although too short, was a great insight into this often misunderstood team position. This could be a wee project Raith TV might consider? A long interview with some archive action shots of Jamie in action. This might help some of the fans better understand his match day tasks, whilst educating some of the younger kids who aspire to be Goalkeepers.

Thanks again Willie for posting the video.

Jamie showed yesterday that he's not only a fantastic goalkeeper, but an absolute gem of a guy.
I was fortunate enough to be invited to hospitality yesterday and the grandson / nephew of the match sponsor has recently done a headshave in support of his young pal who has been undergoing treatment for cancer (and was rightly publicised in the club's social media over the last few days).
When Jamie realised it was the young lad who had done the headshave, he immediately went back to the dressing room and returned with his match worn gloves, signed for the young lad, telling him what a great thing he was doing to support his pal.
As you can imagine the young lad was well chuffed at Jamie's gesture and it shows just how important footballers who show these little touches of class, off the park as well as on it, can be.

Had a first thought it was about to be a story of JMac having the lad shave HIS head in support…then I realized the flaw in my imagination.

Well done Jamma.
I didn't see that but I did see Ross Matthews having a good chat with a young guy who I took to be the lad in question.

Class act on and off the pitch. Just absolutely wonderful to hear stories like this.
I thought at first that the thread title was letting me know that he'd signed on for another two years!🤭
Ach! You never know. It might yet come to pass.🤞😊

It was the same young lad as Ross Matthews was sitting just along from the sponsors.
