Very interesting, HR, but I am sceptical regarding its accuracy. The club wouldn't divulge these figures. How would they be found out? An individual player willing to leak what he knows would not know every other wage.

Sceptical is putting it mildly.

There's no way Matthews and Brown are playing full time in the championship for the figures quoted.

It’s almost kind of believable til you get down to longest serving player and club captain Ross Matthews… If that’s what he earns in comparison to the others then I might consider standing with a bucket outside Starks on match days for him

Tex you clearly cant let this pass yet you cannot seem to grasp the outstanding truth that goalkeepers generally play longer than most and the good ones play the longest.

Yes lots of keepers play a long time and for every one that quits at 40 there are a hundred that quit before 30 and guess what another hundred that quit before 25 and another hundred that quit at 20.....why?

Because they aren't the ones playing at the top of the game or even close to it, Raith aren't at the very top of the game but were very fortunate to have Jammer, a keeper who has played SPL for Killie and Hearts, been to Hampden finals 4 times, won the Scottish and played U21 for Scotland, now you just don't do that if you aren't any good.

You batter on about the new guys at SP not wanting him and everyone has agreed that this seems to be the case, some agree with the new boards idea and others don't that's people prerogative, yet you continue to go on about the age of goalkeepers as it it's a real issue, are you ageist????

Now be a good boy do what you have to do, get the last word in and let this go.

Scotty, my issue isn’t “just” Jamma’s wage or age. My issue is his appearance in games, with regard to perception of physical condition. He has “looked” like the games/hits/knocks are adding up. As a couple of other posters have suggested, he often seemed a little slower to get back up, like it was wearing on him.

In the end, successful football is NOT a sentimental game. Every player reaches a point where it’s best for the team (and, perhaps, the player) to move on, the problem is this is seldom a clearly defined point. Believe it or not, I’m terrified as to what we will do to replace Jamma, because he has been huge for us the last few years. However, last season I found my self sucking in the breath more and more often as Jamma hit the ground and then got up holding various parts of his anatomy in a manner we hadn’t seen before.

As for that “wage list” (not posted by you), there is no way Scott Brown is on £320/week, so I’m thinking that’s the typical “Football Manager” created list.

And here was me thinking it was all play-acting on Jamma's part to take the heat out of the game.
