This all makes perfect sense scotty and the illustrated arms pretty much confirm that it's a take on the buckle.
Thanks for the link.

Further to this I have a vague idea that my original source material also said that the buckle's inclusion came due to an incident where when a royal carriage was travelling through Munro Ferguson lands, damage was done to a wheel which was repaired as a temporary measure with a belt. Thus the lion (king/royalty) and the buckle (belt).
Problem being trying to find the source material to back this up.
Maybe it was all just a dream _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

Well that's different!
As well as being hard on the eyes.😎
Doesn't matter what players wear as long as it's a winning team but as far as generating income, then that's a different ball game. Just got to hope that it generates interest and therefore income. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

The answer was right under our noses all the time, form the Links on the club website.
http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Scottish_Football_League/Raith_Rovers/Raith_Rovers.htm#kits
Quote: | The first evidence of a crest comes from the 1912-13 season, which is very early: few Scottish clubs wore crests at the time. The lion rampant (a common Scottish motif) is holding a belt buckle device which comes from the coat of arms of the Ferguson clan. Lord Ferguson Munro, head of the clan, was Rovers' first president. This was embroidered onto a square patch and sewn on to the players' shirts |

I quite like the away strip. A wee bit unsure of the stripes but hey ho, its good to see some new designs.
The all red strip back in the late 1960s remains one of my fav Rovers strips of all time. |

What happens when we play Hamilton away?
Or Killie, Pars or even Morton all of whom have 50% white int their top.
.......and the new emergency 3rd kit will be....... _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

All strips have to be approved by the SFA I’m sure all potential strip clashes will have been looked at before approval _________________ Davie McGurn gone but never forgotten! |

The footballing authorities of Scotland have never filled me with confidence. Pissups in breweries and inability in the organisation of come to mind, but we'll just have to wait and see. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

I think our potential strip clashes are tame compared with Celtic and Hibs.
Celtic home - green and white hoops.
Celtic away - green.
Celtic third - white.
Hibs home - green with white sleeves.
Hibs away - white.
My initial thought on our new home strip was that it looked like a cheap, knocked off, version of the 125 year strip, however it looks decent when you watch the team play in it.
The away strip on the other hand just looks cheap and nasty. Probably one of the Joma designs that Exeter City rejected as a home strip. _________________ Dougie Hill

None of those have significant clashes as far as I can see.
Hamilton, we would wear our home kit, so would they
Morton and Killie, we'd wear our away kit at their ground, likewise they would do the same at Starks
Pars, either our home or away kit would be fine for the games, no significant clashes there on us wearing our away kit unless anyone is watching it on a black and white TV...of which there are none that support broadcast any longer anyway |
