At risk of getting wooshed, is it not a shield that the lion holds on the Rovers badge rather than a size 5 Mitre? _________________ Dougie Hill

It might be, you could be right. Still, looks weird on the shirt on the
side randomly. I'd prefer a version without it, would look a lot better.
Hopefully it sells well with the fans overall. |

Funny how people interpret things differently! I always thought our dragon/lion hybrid was just out for a casual drive in the countryside?
I really like the top, badge imprint on the side being my favourite part!
Back of shirt sponsor as usual ruins it a bit for me. |

Whit the hell has Bene done to his hair , is he trying to make up for Davo being away
I quite like the top, just hink the red detail could be a bit finer, like doing it with a pen instead o a paint brush _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Gotta say pass also. The blue/white combo is tried and true, but somehow the details of the changing colour trim and the design make it a no for me. |

The computer mouse design was based on the Rovers' shield.😉
The lion holding the three section shield has been the club's traditional badge/emblem for as long as I can ever remember. It's even inlaid on the stone floor where the tunnel meets the other three corridors when you come in the official entrance. There may have been some tinkering about with this design in some seasons past but this is the traditional club badge. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

If it is, that would explain why the lion is pictured from the waist up, eh? Very 2020+, the badge is based upon a lion making a Zoom call while playing with his belt buckle because he isn’t wearing his pants. |

Please enlighten.
Never heard of this.
I do believe that it maybe could have been a Bert Herdman idea from the halcyon days of the post WWII days or maybe I'm mixed up and thinking of the floor decoration. Bert was responsible for one of them. I'm just not too sure which.🤔
ETA
On further research it must have been the floor decoration as this badge/emblem is on strips back in the 1920's including the shipwreck team in 1923. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Scotty can give the full explanation as he penned an article in a match programme a few years ago.
I found this tenuous link which shows buckles in the crest.

Indeed buckles in the quartered coat of arms but.... purely my opinion ...pushing things to say that the Rovers' lion is holding a buckle.
However, as it relates to one of the titles, namely Lord Raith, I'm quite prepared to be further enlightened. There may be a link that I was never aware of.
Every day is a school day.😊
Two hours later I've come across this!
Seems as if belt buckle could well be right!
"The Rovers first used a badge on their kits during the 1912/13 season. This early badge included a lion rampant holding a belt buckle, the latter of which being derived from the Kirkcaldy coat of arms. A variation of this badge was used until the 1949/50 season, when the Scottish royal coat of arms, featuring a yellow shield with a red lion rampant, was used to mark the Rovers’ promotion to the Scottish top tier. The following season, the more traditional badge returned to the kit.

A GREAT strip.
The first "half n half " top was one of my favourite RRFC strips ever.

I wrote an article on the club crest and I'm sure there's a section in John Litster's Rovers bible.
I'm sure I had had read somewhere that the badge was part of the Munro Ferguson crest and Rovers were allowed to use it because of the connection between the family and the club. That has been disputed and I can't find the source I used so I can't back it up.

This link looks like it could be a strong connection to the family. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |
