It wouldn't surprise me if we start the season with almost the same squad that we finished the last. Those who were on loan will be replaced by new loanees.

Currently, where we start, rather than who we start with, is more important to me.
I do agree though in general with your comment Castle.

I take your point Marshall but so I'm fed up looking on the bleak side, for now (at least until we play our 1st game) I'm looking at the glass being half full (not a common thing amongst Rovers fans I know but...) and as such am looking forwards to getting in some additional quality for our tilt at the Championship.

I suggest everyone reads this week's Bulletin. Always a read read,anyway, but I don't
envy JMcG's task of signing players for the upcoming season. Other clubs are able to
do deals now but what chance of signing eg an ambitious striker when he can't be assured
of playing in The Championship?
Dunfermline (flush with the Nisbet money )sign two strikers. Maybe neither were on JMcG's
list of 20,but who knows? Certainly targets ,given the choice between a certainty and doubt,
may be snapped up before JMcG can make a firm offer.
JMcG has the further disadvantage of not knowing his budget and,on top of that, apparently
the reality of negative impact of Covid 19 on wages has not sunk in with players and their agents.
We must hope the Tribunal's decision is known this week (crossing figures for a positive one)
and that JMcG has a couple of targets up his sleeve whom other clubs don't rate but he and
Smudger see the potential.

If he has a couple of targets up his sleeve the he'll be well armed.🥴
Either that or he cannae get the jaicket to fit thanks to the targets filling the sleeve.😟
I know, I know, it's a slow damp showery day in these parts.
Jaicket minus targets already on! Razz

Whatever way the current situation pans out , we have to have players of championship standard no matter what league we are in , if its the championship we have to stay there and not come crashing back down again. I can just hear the gloating
And if heaven forbid we're stuck in the seaside we'll need that standard to win it again ( by more than one point ) Falkirk will be a different side having learned a harsh lesson

It's a frightening thought but I would be astounded if in the end the promotions and relegations are reversed, such a decision could also lead to the removal of titles and the SFL would know they'd face another legal battle for massive compensation from the every aggrieved club. One way or another it will be messy but possibly less so to pay both Partick and Hertz some compo and I think that'll be the way it goes, both these sides could more than feasibly been relegated anyway, Covid-19's arrival and outfall hands them a handy parachute payment they'd otherwise have not had. I'm thinking 1M to Hearts and 150k to Partick.

Assuming it goes as hoped and we kick off next season in the Championship then due to current events, it's looking like it'll be tough. In normal circumstances I feel fairly confident that Rovers could have proved to be a surprise package (just as Livvi, Ayr and Arbroath have been) and a top 5 finish might have been possible. I'm much less confident as the days go past and I see players sign on at other clubs. If there's one saving grace it's that neither Alloa nor QotS have signed anyone yet and are at present looking weaker than they were last season, long my that trend continue as it's them we have to target staying above.
Assuming it's the Championship then staying up is an absolute must and if it means us supporters having to raise extra funds so be it, the prospect of another drop into L1 is unthinkable, if we were still there I'd not fancy our chances against Falkirk next season.

Interesting views,Scotty, and I'd agree with your first paragraph IF it was SPFL mediation.Unfortunately not,
as discussed on the Reconstruction thread ie its a question of whether or not has Company Law been breached re the vote.
The legal panel could home in on something that has not seemed significant to others. We just don't know.
I share your views on not wishing to tangle with Falkirk again next season. At least Rosco (if he's re-signed ) would be assured of a warm welcome by the Falkirk team and fans ,after his Falkirk Tears video/meme. Sure to be games with plenty ''atmosphere''😂 (especially when fans are back),but I'd 100% rather be in the Championship, even with those of last season's who are available ( we will be light of no less than FIVE of our strikers😩,tho, hopefully we will have a fit Lewis Vaughan).

The (relative) good news is that QoS still have their manager out on furlough and literally no signed players. That gives us a little wiggle room.

I,m not overly concerned regards signings, theres very few teams signing players one being our good neeburs.Money for Nisbet was still wet and some of it was spent but looking at their history of spending its no surprise
