In front of the largest ever crowd of 83019 at a Rovers match Celtic win 3-2 in the Scottish Cup semi-final played at Hampden Park. Willie Penman made it 2-2 with ten minutes to go but Celtic's Tully scored the winner one minute later. |

I noticed a recent OTD on the website mentioned that in 1952 the board approved broadcasting games on hospital radio.
Do any posters have any memory of who used to commentate and how long the service was provided. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

I don't know who did them but can still see (in my mind's eye) one of the two men wearing his 1950's heavy wool overcoat coming up the steps/passageway to the wee box right up the back of 'A' Stand as it was in the late 50' and through the 1960's. We had season tickets for Row L seats 9 & 10 not far in front of the commentary box.
Changed days regarding match communications!😊 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Victoria radio were certainly broadcasting Rovers games within the last decade.
There were a couple of occasions where I had to leave a home game early and you could pick up the VRN commentary on Medium Wave in the car.
The coverage stretched a good bit outside Kirkcaldy. _________________ Dougie Hill

I was speaking to an Alloa fan last night.
He's not Mendy's biggest fan, but said his sending off was a joke.
He'd been booked when a Dumbarton player, obviously aware of the fact he was on a yellow, blasted the ball at him in an attempt to get a reaction.
Mendy walked forward towards the guy and the Dumbarton player lifted his hand towards Mendy.
Mendy lifted his own hand towards the Dumbarton player's hand to stop him and the referee bought it hook, line and sinker, booking both players and therefore Mendy was off. _________________ Dougie Hill

I can't find any details of the Rovers team that day, however, here is a link to the match programme https://www.picclickimg.com/d/w1600/pict/224670238451_/Rangers-v-Raith-Rovers-League-Programme-No-422.jpg I 'think' that the Raith scorers were Gordon Wallace and Ian Porterfield who before the year was out moved to Sunderland.
A certain Alex Ferguson scored what was his third hat-trick for the Govan side that day.

J.Gray? Hislop, Alex Gray, Stein, Davidson, Porterfield, Lister, Sneddon, Wallace, Cunningham, Falconer. Sub. Murphy
Goalscorers for Rovers: D Smith og and Lister.
J Gray played three games in goal that season. The one before the Rangers game and the one after along with this one.
Bobby Reid in goal every other game.
Hope that helps?😊 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!
