I blame Alan Crow, worst editor in the Press's history. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

I don't imagine they employ too many people locally these days, or for a number of years for that matter. Still not good when your job is in danger. Still, if it takes out that hideous rag that is The Scotsman, I won't shed too many tears. |

I can't recall The Scotsman ever being referred to as a rag before. In fact it kind of devalues the name given to the real rags. |

The Scotsman's sales figures are appalling - much less than The Courier, Herald and Press and Journal.
You'd imagine their profitable or potentially profitable titles will be cherry picked although I'm not sure whether the FFP falls into that category or not.
The FFP certainly isn't printed locally and I'm pretty sure all the advertising is based in Edinburgh. _________________ Dougie Hill

Probably not helped by the fact that it is constantly telling us how sh!te our country is. |

Couldn't agree more. Dragged the paper into the tabloid gutter and has upset a number of local people and business's along the way. Paper is full of lies or exaggerated nonsense on a good day. Mathew elder generally ok, but unfortunately the editor's ego has ruined it. Don't worry if you are his pal, you will get looked after though. |

I think there was some truth in that scoop to be fair. Cardle I know was offered a contract but didn't even respond to turn it down. Not 100% sure on the other 2, but I'm fairly sure Smith offered Loy a deal. Not sure on Flood. |

Press has been pretty poor for years and I have always found them a nightmare to deal with when trying to get publicity for any rovers/charity fundraising I do especially rock the rovers.I still buy the paper which has decent content but like I say dealing with them is always a hassle.Still sad to see it go down the tubes tho if that is what is going to happen. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

The Fife Free Press is an atrocious paper. You can barely get through a paragraph in it without a grammatical error or a typo.
I buy it every week but often read no more than the Rovers related articles. _________________ If I were a fighter I'd probably kick your ass. |

It could well be that any sale might lead to their five Fife titles being merged into one to save on costs.
This might not be a bad thing - I'd rather read reports on junior football in other parts of Fife than reviews of the Festival and other Edinburgh events which have nothing to do with Fife, but which seem to get undue prominence in the FFP. _________________ Dougie Hill

Not allowed politics on here, but lets just say its no surprise with their stance.
Not necessarily meaning the Press but their national rags.

Quote: | Johnston Press, publisher of the 'i', The Scotsman and the Yorkshire Post, has detailed a rescue plan aimed at ensuring its survival.
The newspaper group put itself up for sale last month, but said none of the offers it received were strong enough.
It now plans to file for administration and says the firm's assets will then immediately be bought by its lenders.
If the deal is approved by the courts, it will preserve jobs and stabilise the business, Johnston Press said.
