Great to see the re-run on BBC2 tonight of the Bill Shankly documentary.
I'm sure SoW will be drooling all over it.
Those of us of a certain age well remember the glory days of 1960's football revolving around Shankly, Stein and Busby.
God! I remember Ron Yeats playing for Dundee Utd as a young centre half when they were still in the old Second Division. And Ian St John in the Motherwell 'Ancell Babes' team in the late 50's/early 60's. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Another re-run of the brilliant Shankly documentary on BBC Scotland tonight from 7.30 - 9pm.
Great memories and at times emotional ones from an era in football that'll never return due to the way the top clubs and leagues are now steeped in millions.
I wonder what Shanks would have to say about the current team this season?

The Three Kings by Leo Moynihan. The makers of modern football. A Christmas present still to be devoured.
On the dust jacket:-
BUSBY: i was determined to put Manchester United at the top of the football tree.
SHANKLY: I knew the crowd was here at Liverpool and the people were just like me.
STEIN: I liked the fans here at Celtic and I was egotistical enough to think I could make a difference.
Three men born within a 30-mile radius of each other in the central lowlands of Scotland. |
