Kirk wynd highland house have said that if anyone hires a kilt from them for the gig on sunday then they are gonna donate 10% of the fee to the funds.We may not get anyone hiring but it is a nice gesture from them.

Behave yourself donny as all i am saying is that rtr which is a MAJOR FUNDRAISER for the football club and good causes and is on every year on the same weekend.So out of the blue at a venue that we have used in the past but dont now they decide to have bands on albeit on a saturday.Now is that a coincidence or what.It may not affect us at all but these things worry me especially as it takes me a year to organise our gig.No mention of the kittys gig until the week before ours.
Over the years i have always tried to give local up and coming bands a chance to play at ours.If over these same years people had just come to me and asked to work together then we could have had a major music festival instead a lot of folk have decided not too.I know everyone will look after themselves but when ours has been in the press for months it makes me wonder when something similar appears over the same weekend.
You just remember one thing when you are posting smartass comments on here telling me to grow up that this gig is called ROCK THE ROVERS its a rovers gig for the football club which could possibly bring a lot of money into YOUR football club.It can also raise a few quid for good causes like cancer,a kids rugby team and kirkcaldy foodbank but when other things go on at the same time it could affect what we can raise.Dont get me wrong there is other attractions on that weekend including bands at o`connells,kings theatre fundraiser on friday etc but nothing i can do.Anyway i wont have this problem next year as the gig wont be on which is nothing to do with any competition.

The 1st rock the rovers gig is on tomorrow night at THE DUCHESS with doors opening at 7pm and its £5 entry payable at the door.4 bands with the 1st band on about 7.30pm.This is all part of the rock the rovers weekend and all money raised from both gigs will be split between MYELOMA UK,KIRKCALDY RUCBY S1/ S2s,KIRKCALDY FOODBANK and of course RAITH ROVERS FC.

Thanks to everyone who came to the rtr gigs over the weekend the support is much appreciated and i hope you all enjoyed yourselves.It really is a great event.The bands and solo`s etc all put on a brilliant show as usual and maybe next time more folk will come along.There was a decent crowd this weekend but as they say more the merrier.We had a visit from 2 directors on sunday at start of the day who stayed about an hour after realising the band they came to see was on later than advertised.James berry,rory bryan and another one of the young lads were there for a short time.We made a profit of about £1800 quid over the weekend which will be split between the good causes and the football club.It isnt a bad return although a lot of work goes into setting this up and on the day when running around clearing stages,loading stages,introing bands etc etc.The only thing that keeps me going tho in all this is the acts love playing the gig and the people that come along have a great day.If it wasnt for them then i wouldnt continue so it will be on next year with details to follow. Wink

is that £1800 per cause or split between all 5?

Lot of work must go into organising something like this and I'd imagine quite a stressful experience as well. For that reason it must be a bit disheartening to only see a profit of £1800 being made. Not knocking what Quinny does, I know I couldn't even begin to imagine what it's like putting this together.

Its £1800 between 4 and it is disheartening but a lot of people come every year and the bands love it so it goes on.There is plenty of work doing this gig more than folk realise.
