Mckinnon will have worked with Cuthbert every day, so can only go on what he himself has seen.

If Mcgurn has to prove himself, he will - but ill support the manager on this.

Those saying they wont be back, please dont come back.

I'm with McGurn on this one, but to be honest I'm getting sick fed up of all this keeper talk. We have 3 keepers all capable of playing first team football. One has been fantastic for several seasons, another that won the league with Hamilton and Laidlaw that has potential.

Rather than spending time talking about the keepers i would rather talk about strikers or sorry lack off. The team needs goals and we don't appear to have that many in this team. Lets get a striker signed that will score and help assist others in scoring.

Reading over some older threads from last season I was surprised to see some of the people who were outraged that Grant Murray would drop McGurn for Cuthbert but now back 'Ray' over his stance. Quite right as well, the new manager deserves our backing but it's a funny old game innit.

Cuthbert is only ever a few games away from his next blunder. If McKinnon persists with him then it will cost him his job.

That's hilarious, even by your pathetic standards Laughing

And McGurn never made any blunders? I still think Mcgurn is the better keeper but am prepared to trust McKinnons judgement. AU do you think before you type at times?

Cuthbert is little better than Andy McNeil. I thought he was atrocious last season. Poor shot stopper and no presence at set pieces.

It will take a lot more than a couple of half decent saves in friendlies to alter my opinion of him.

Playing him ahead of McGurn is bad enough but then Laidlaw being named on the bench ahead of McGurn just took the biscuit.

The whole situation with the goalkeepers has been handled shambolically by the club.

The manager has given everyone a clean slate. He is picking the players who has impressed him most in training and then in the friendlies. Last season is history. Cuthbert by his own admission struggled for form with injuries last term. Nothing shambolic about it. Unfortunately we have fans who can't wait for his first mistake. He is a rovers player, so we should back him and the manager's decision. Did someone say they won't be back until mcgurn is back in goal Laughing God help us and our crazy fans.

I think the board deciding to offer McGurn a 2 year part-time deal with an option for a 3rd year then appointing a manager who appears to not want to work with part-time players is pretty shambolic.

The board acted quickly at the end of the season to secure the services of a very loyal and good goalie, as they didn't want to hang off until a new manager was in place and risk losing mcgurn. The new manager didn't pick him for the first game of the new season. Shambles is not a word I would use to describe the situation.

Or because they knew it would shift a few more season tickets Wink

Remove the 'or' and you've hit the nail on the head.

Exactly. I made the same points on another thread and was happy enough with the boards decision. However I now think it would have been better had they just left it till the new manager was appointed. He didn't have any say but found he had inherited three signed keepers so had to look at them all and decide who to pick. Cuthbert seems to have got the nod but who's to say that won't change during the season. As fans all we can do is support the team, back the manager and hope he gets it right.

I'm not convinced fans were banging the door down at starks park to buy a season ticket, when they heard the news Mcgurn was signing a new contract. He is not Ronaldo or Messi. I don't see kids in kdy, running about with Mcgurn on their football tops. They signed him because he is a good goalkeeper, before he was snapped up by another club. Surely my logic is more plausible. Did anyone on this forum buy a season ticket because Mcgurn signed a 2 year deal?

Spot on.
people need to start backing the current crop of players, its a new era for some of these boys and a new lease of life for some from last season aswell, and too me cuthbert seems to have grabbed his chance and doesnt seem to want to let it go, fans need to let it lie.. if cuthbert fails you can then say to us "i told you so" but till that day start supporting the team and not individuals.
