I don't think it'll be Ellis. The BOD have said they are looking for a change, something a bit different. Levein, Mcglynn and Murray were all cut from the same cloth and groomed in the same tactical approach.

I think it'll be Danny Lennon.

I cant see it being announced until Monday or Tuesday. They wont arrange a press conference for a weekend when sports reporters are covering other matches etc. Maximum attention and publicity will be given if its through the week, so i will predict an announcement on Monday night or Tuesday morning with a press conference shortly after. I don't think it will be Jimmy Nicholl, Laurie Ellis, or Malpas. I'm pretty sure it won't be Derek Adams either. I reckon it might be someone with no or little connections with us previously, which rules out Lennon and Cameron. We have a fairly poor record where former players becoming our manager are concerned, so the board might be looking to avoid this.

The club doesn't rely on the availability of the press, if the club is the news they are entitled to the scoop and announce it themselves.

Your right Wolfman Jack, but surely any business would want maximum coverage of a new managerial announcement, which would not be at 3 oclock on a Saturday afternoon when the English premier league takes prime time. The decision i suspect has been made and will be announced early next week. I cant see Mixu leaving the Finnish job to come to the Rovers but i would be happy if your right bigeein.

Will the announcement be today? Ooooooeeerr

I would think any new manager would want to see his playing staff before announcing freed men, offer contracts & sign up some players and look for new players before the end of May.

My initial thought was that it'd be a Tuesday night announcement that would be made on-line and covered in more detail by both the FFP and the Courier. This was traditionally the way the club has made big announcements in the past (before computer media days) with the local papers getting the scoop. More times than not the first you'd hear of any big Rovers event was when the FFP came out on the Friday (or late Thursday to be fair).

As nothing happened so far this week and the clock is ticking regarding potential signings I'm coming to think that next Tuesday is still 4 days away and is too long to wait. I therefore tend to agree with WMJ's thoughts that the club will deliver it's scoop when it wants or more likely as soon as it can.

After all if the club were to announce today that there is a new man at the helm the FFP could still do a big piece on an interview with the new incumbent.

Of course theres always the possibility that the new man may already be in place and is already takling to players, but the club is delaying the official announcement....... until next Tuesday night at 11pm Wink

a lot of talk that the BOD will not make announcement untill Rangers have been confirmed as a championship or premiership club, if thats the case thats far too late in my opinion.
forget rangers and offer the man the job.
let him release or re sign who has been recomended by malpas and ellis, and then get hunting for his own players.

the only thing telling me its ok is that usually when managers get offered an interview for a managers job prior to pre season, they would allready have scouts looking at drawing up a shortlist of possible players just incase they do get offered the job.

It's the budget that isn't getting set, not the announcement of the new manager.

Can only assume sacking Murray has effected the budget as it was reported several weeks ago, when Murray was still in charge, that he had already been told his budget for next season.

Like Craig said the sacking of Murray has affected the budget. It's essentially going to cost us the signing of at least one player. If Rangers aren't in the league then that's at least 50k the club won't get that we did get this season.

I'm hoping its a manager from outwith the Scottish game. Somebody that knows how to play football.

But I would think the chances are slim.

Is Paul Sturrock still involved in the game? A good friend of Maurice Malpas I would guess and a wealth of experience as well.

He is at Yeovil Town and couldn't prevent them from going into the Conference this season.
