I recently had the pleasure of sharing a couple of small (very small) lemonades with Jimmy Millar and his mate Ralf Brand on the sad occasion of Ian McColl's funeral. Jeez, what a pair these guys are. Look fit, bright eyed, great company (maybe the small lemonades), I couldn't possibly repeat some of the stories.
He asked me about connection with the McColls (too long to go into here) because I clearly don't sound Glasgow having been born and bred in Kirkcaldy, which is when we got onto Raith Rovers and the lights came on, the same ex Rovers manager, Jimmy Millar. Duh! I was away at Uni by the time he was at the helm and I was into Rugby so my finger wasn't quite on the pulse. That's my excuse.
Anyway the point of the story is that as he left he stopped and with that mischievous twinkle in his eye, told me he still supports the Rovers, always has, despite the fact that he comes from "West Edinburgh" wherever that is.
PS I hope this is the right category for this topic. _________________ Keeping the Faith (and the Missionary work!) |

Unlike the previous rumour former manager Jimmy Millar has passed away today aged 87.
Condolences and sympathy to his family.
I have a photo of the board at the time which also includes my long deceased dad who acted as company secretary for about a decade and a half after relinquishing being a director. Tommy Walker (not the goalie, but thee Tommy Walker!🙄) is also in the photo. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Sad to hear that Embow met him once at a monthly supporters club meeting in the Deaf Institute on St Brydesdale Road it was at that meeting he announced that we had signed Murray McDermott. I think I was 16 or 17 at that time. nice man easy to speak to and my thoughts are with his family. RIP Jimmy. |

Was mentioned on the radio earlier tonight. Was surprised he was only capped twice for Scotland as his goal scoring record for Rangers was decent. RIP |
