I have decided to ask gordon who does the tannoy to stop playing the new geordie munro song as there has been a lot of criticism of it.The song was recorded by people with the rovers at heart to raise funds for the football club but its not been a success.I have emailed gordon tonight to ask him to not play it but i also asked him if he would be interested in doing a fans play list. Its something liverpool do where the fans send in their playlists of 4 songs with the best being played at half time each home game. Its just an idea.

Great idea SOW get Leftfield,,'Release the Pressure' for the coming out tune, that would be my instrumental choice or Dire Straights 'Brothers in Arm' for a lyrical slot..the timing would have to right mind you!!! Goal music not sure yet?

Tam it is a good move because the negativity when folk try to do something is shocking and i have had enough.I never professed that the song would be a no.1 or as good as the original but it was done with good intentions for my club.No one is interested so the club loses out on potentially a few quid but not my problem now as i am going to just be a fan rather than help. The only thing i will do for one last time will be rock the rovers next year and thats because its the 10th anniversary then it will stop unless i get my enthusiasm back. There was a variety of rovers people involved in the recording of the song but it still didnt stop the moaners from moaning.
I hope you arent all going to post up here you playlists as its not even been discussed or decided by gordon yet so its not the right time.It was only an idea anyway for him to take on or to give to someone else to take on.It would at least get fans involved but the moaners will still moan.Stelios`s party tape is somewhere between kirkcaldy and ayr lying in a ditch which is where the gm song will be unfortunately.

No criticism intended SoW.

I think the song just needed a wee rest now and again.

Your plan to create something for the fans is always very positive and most things you do are hugely successful and well done. Some things just don't seem to click with the fan base.

Don't take a wee failure personally, some of us have been there as well.

The first Commercial Committee failed, my brother Paul and I's Classic Strips has only been a wee bit successful, not as good as we had hoped. Some Rovers items in the Club Shop over the years haven't been big sellers but hey it needs to go on. There will be a lot more other small initiatives that failed or were only partially successful.

The list goes on where fans who wanted to do something and raise funds for the club we all thought Rovers fans would buy in to it. Sadly not all the time.

Sorry and dont take this the wrong way but why should others not post their playlists now in the light of this.It appears that some are now trying to dictate what is played over the tannoy.I dont like many tunes played over the tannoy especially after we score should I ask Gordon to stop playing it.

As a purchaser of the GM song I hope Gordon does not stop playing it

I dont like Marios pies, maybe I`ll ask him to stop selling them Wink

I like the new version, there's limits to what you can really do with such an old classic but the new one is fun, cheesy and at times falls into the 'so bad it's good' category

I couldn't honestly give a hoot about what music is played over the PA, unless we end up with a hit shot PA system and it actually makes a difference.

Agree there Soundwave. Facing the park, the speakers in the middle area of the stand of the Southstand and to the railway side are grim.

I can't stand Geordie Munro - new or old.

However - SClub 7 ...... now your talking.

Seriously - its a football game.

If you want to get hung up about music go to a concert.

Gordon has agreed to stop playing the song till further notice and thanks for the feedback good or bad.NR its not the fact that its a song its the fact that it was a rovers community effort to record it and some of the criticism hurt.I understand that everyone has different tastes and that when it comes to music or what fans want to hear.If folk want to put their playlists up then fair enough its just that gordon hasnt said it will happen but i suppose it will be a bit of fun to do so.

Gavin, just an idea. What about "Wild Rover" before the start or when the teams come out.It still has a link to the rovers if only in the song title.

All the songs getting played at starks have nothing to do with me zico its gordon adamson who deals with that.I just asked him to stop playing the gm song and gave him an idea for the play list thats all.I am sure if folk speak to him then he will sort something out to make things different.

I e-mailed the club a while ago re. this, I can't recall if I got a reply.

Edit, cue Zico asking for a Yes triple album so he gets his monies worth.
