Yes I`ve put that on my planner to watch later.
Alba also have a programme about Jimmy Johnstone next Saturday night. |
Seen it before. Very moving in many ways given Jinky's various health battles.
BBC2 covering the Lisbon Lions this Wednesday evening.
Pure unadulterated nostalgia.
I've been one of life's lucky guys who is of an age to remember easily all these achievements and what it meant. The only difficult thing to grasp is how the time and years have gone! Answer undoubtedly is ...too fast! _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

We all have to be very thankful for the Lisbon Lions. Otherwise the Pars might have won a bit more than they actually. did m _________________ Dougie Hill

Just magic to watch what was and always will be such a magnificent achievement no matter where your football loyalties lie. Perhaps like me you needed to have lived through this period to fully understand what Celtic's victory meant in terms of European football along with Rangers and Killiie's efforts and not forgetting the Scotland team at that time. _________________ Talk on! IMHO that Celtic side were the greatest footballing side I had ever seen.
They were all from Glasgow or within 25 miles of Glasgow and they had Jock Stein a great manager.
PS We still gubbed them 6-2 in a friendly |

Aye! And we got gubbed 8-1 at home in a League Cup section game the season before they won the European Cup!
Also forgot that we had just won promotion back to the top flight a few weeks before they performed in Lisbon.
How could I have forgotten that highlight from the football magic spring of 1967!! _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Watching prog about Women's football in Scotland on Alba and Raith get a mention as being one of three clubs (Aberdeen and QoS the others) asking permission in 1924 to hold women's matches and being smacked down by SFA in no uncertain manner to desist. This after women's game expanding during first war when men were in the forces. Now the war was over women were put back in their box, better known as the home.
Really interesting programme called 'Honeyballers'. Made in 2013 apparently. Never seen it until tonight. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Cracking good programme tonight on the late Tommy Burns.
A great insight of the private man as well as the public player.
Alba seem to do these programmes so well. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

HT Lichties 1-1Edinburgh City in Challenge Cup.
Live on Alba as I type.
67 mins in and it's 3-1 to City with their second penalty. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Edinburgh City were very impressive tonight and didn't allow Arbroath to bully them physically, although it wasn't a full strength Arbroath team (to start with at least).
They seem a very friendly, well run club - I went through to see us play in a friendly a few years ago (the beginning of the Nade / Conroy season) and they made a visit to Meadowbank almost palatable.
Their manager was Peter Houston's assistant at Falkirk.
All the best to them in this competition - at risk of sounding xenophobic, I'd much rather they won it than any of the Irish or Welsh teams. _________________ Dougie Hill
