Maybe folks are treating it like they treat coming to see the team and can't be bothered or feel that its getting stale or whatever other reason it is they aren't interested anymore.
If the team had been beaten today and / or get a doing (or two) in the next 7 days the event might not take off for Rovers fans at all. On the other hand if the team thump the Pars and turn Morton over it could boost numbers of those who are swithering, but probably not so much. It's non Rovers supporting, music appreciating others in the 50,000 in the local area that should be coming along.
It's a shame really because I know those who put so much into it to make it happen. It'd help tremendously if the club got back on board and promoted it by sending some players. Maybe Gav should donate all the money made to charity as they seem to appreciate it more. |

Being held on Sunday doesn't help in my opinion but I realise the venues probably wouldn't want it on a Friday or Saturday. More power to the organizers mind you and its a poor state of affairs if the club doesn't or won't do more to help. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

No criticism from you ian as i have wanted to do djs or a junior rtr or even a retro rtr but not over this weekend plus no one was willing to help. Its only once a year and most of those playing are local plus its for the football club and charity. For the 10th anniversary [poss last one]things will change as it will be a weekend event and i will be looking to get a few big names in.I have wanted to get players up on stage to intro bands but it hasnt happened.I have tried to get big names along from radio stations i.e boogie from forth one to intro bands but never available.I also cant afford to get the real big names in as they look for a lot of money and i only get £100 from each sponsor as i dont want to touch the ticket money.I have also wanted to have a battle of the bands so the winners would get a slot at the gig but due to other things going on and not knowing if the press will help thats never happened. So until i can get these things to happen i have to go with what i know.
Castle i cant get a saturday or sunday as the club wont let me due to their own events although as a one off i should get it for next year.I have the gig on this weekend every year as it is a bank holiday for some folk in scotland despite it being an english one.We ususally get a turn out despite it being a sunday but i am more worried than normal for this year that folk wont come.It may well turn out great as the kdy public tend to support it but if no one its going on due to lack of coverage or posters then it will be difficult. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

That's the thing, Raith Rovers is a football club so not every fan is going to be drawn to a music event on the simple basis of a connection to the Rovers where as I'd imagine others see "Rock the Rovers" & think 'oh Rovers, it's an event for football fans' I might be wrong but that's the way I see it & the 1 year I went along it wasn't my cup of tea. |

Its a music event FUNDRAISER for the football club and charities so it will never be everyones cup of tea especially when 90% of those that go dont even know who raith rovers are.I hope that whoever does come along enjoys the day and has a few drinks whilst watching live music.I also hope that even people arent going that they can at least pass the word round to those who may be able to go.Anyway its fine if you didnt like it mate no worries but from now on i am not going to post about the gig again as i am going round in circles. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

Big thank you from all of us to the bands , the organisers , the staff at the venue , fifes finest , the company's who sponsored the bands , and anyone else involved in Rock the Rovers .
It was a great event that went well , allot of people went the extra mile for this gig , special thanks to the Mickey 9's who traveled from Aberdeen to Kirkcaldy after a gig in Aberdeen and are now driving home to Glasgow . The least I could do was to buy the last a round of beers . For all you guys who left after state of emergency , you missed a trick not seeing the Mickey 9's . Check them out on F.B or there website awesome band .
Thanks everyone . _________________ Only on fan talk can supporters find a negative in a 5-0 win. 🤔 |

Well done to all concerned, hopefully raised a decent amount of money for the charities.
Comedy gold moment came when I stumbled upon a bouncer cleaning himself up in the toilet, he suffered the ignominy of a seagull dropping a deuce on his napper. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

It was a great day and every single act should be proud of their performance as they were all fantastic. All those who came along had a good time and listened to some quality music all day for a tenner. We never raised as much as hoped and as a result the 4 charities and the club will unfortunately get less than i usually give.We were at least 200 folk down on last year and that may well be the reason that the next one may be the last one.It is the 10th anniversary next year and i have some major thinking to do about what has to happen to make it memorable. It will be a weekend gig but not sure what weekend or who will be involved as of yet.
It is a fantastic day and anyone who hasnt been to one then you have missed something good. The 2 most disappointing things for me this year are lack of press coverage and lack of support from the football club to which this gig is named after.I dont really want to criticise anyone as it may sound like sour grapes but for no one to speak to me about how they can help from either organisation is poor. The fans rep came along spent an hour or so had a pint or 2 but not once did he offer to intoduce an act or ask if he could help in any way.Myself, stelios and wee judy had to go between stages and do that job which as time went on we lost track but got there.Anyway i have said my piece and will no doubt cop an earful but i dont care as this gig means a lot to me and i need all the support i can get to set it up.
I hope those who did attend had a good day because i did despite being stressed out by it but i bring that upon myself. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

I'm glad to hear it was a good day/night. This was the first one I've missed. I think it's a pity that all the money raised from the event doesn't go to the club. Not for a minute am I saying that the charities that have benefited aren't worthy... Far from it. I just think that if the club was getting every penny then more fans would make an effort to turn up. |
