Why not have a new share issue in Raith Rovers Football Club, not the Holding Company.I seem to re-call there was one in the 1980's when a sum of money waqs required.
Doing it this way at least means the investor gets a little gamble for his money e.g something back in the way of a premium.I feel that myself would be more inclined to help the financial security of the club if I had a say in what happens.
Would the Board be prepared to sanction such a move or do they have to get agreement from 51% of excisting sharholders?Anyone at the club like or are prepared to comment on this. |

good idea zico .I bought shares the last time the club were strapped for cash when shares were made available but that was in the holding company so basically it was a donation . |

Yes somrthing like a share issue of say 10,000 shares at £50 per share, and you can buy just one if you want, then say blocks of five. There's £500,000 and it's not as if you are giving the club money and not receiving anything in return. If this was to happen then people would have a say in how the club was being run and who was on the board.I think this would be a positive step to get the club into the black. |

Well if you are a shareholder and you go to the AGM people are up for re-election and you have the opportunity to change things. Why the negactivity on this soundwave.I would have thought the chance to raise a large amount of money for the club would be a welcome idea seems I'm wrong. |

No negativity intended Bill, so apologies if it came across that way - I think it's a terrific idea and would back it 100%.
Reclaim the Rovers was supposed to give fans a bigger say in the running of the club, with the Forum ensuring sound governance and the board held to account. I'm not convinced we really achieved that and wouldn't want to repeat the same mistakes.
We seem to be caught in a cycle just now, so before investing I would want to know "what will the club do to break this cycle?" and ensure they're not asking the fans for money again in a few years time, just like 2005, 2001, 1998. . . .
You hit the nail on the head though. It is about change
What changes will the club make to ensure we're not back here in a few years time, and will our investment give us the power to make change? |

The last AGM that I was at was a Holding Company one several years ago now but there were one or two of the directors up for change at that time.I don't think protocol has changed.I also seem to recall that shareholders should be given notification in advance of who is up for reelection and if they wish to propose someone else then it has to be done within a certain time scale leading up to the AGM.This was also how it was done when I served on the 200 Club every year at the AGM there were at least two commitee members up for re-election.
Finally sorry Sounndwave you hit a raw nerve bad day at the office and all that. |

I have never yet seen, at any agm i have attended, a board member up for re-election. I aint a businessman, but would ask bill, is this a requirement in what i understand to be a private limited company.??? _________________ now enjoying my fishing time, at peace with nature. but being a avid radio ham my global contacts have increased. any hams around call me lz2csk on 14200 or their aboyuts |
