Apparantley I am breaking some kind of law by putting videos on YouTube from the Rovers games, I was told this today at the game by two Rovers fans.
My channel on YouTube can be found here.
Is this right? Or am I OK to keep doing this?
I only do it as a hobby really, and I enjoy taking videos at games and I would like to think that my fellow Rovers fans enjoy watching them, so I will be quite dissapointed if I have to stop doing it now after about a year or so.
Thanks in advance. |

I'm no lawyer but I would think that what you were doing was OK. You are not stealing other peoples videos and posting them up.
As far as I know you can't copyright real-life (OK live pop concerts have rules against filming but that is stated on the purchased ticket usually)
One can take photographs quite freely at the ground so what would be the problem?
You are not doing any harm, I doubt if anyone at all would be offended - tell those fannies...... I mean fans to drink less before game time |

Am not entirely sure, but the 'rights' to film the game are held by the SFL and clubs need permission from them to do video highlights. Of course this probably doesn't cover filming the crowd, which is the most valuable part of your video highlights Dan.
I'm sure D.Hancock or someone involved with the video higlights would have more knowledge of this.
Reminds me of a couple of years ago getting into trouble at Cappielow for taking pictures of the match on my mobile phone, as Greenock owned 'image rights' to their players.
I suppose it's similar to copying a CD - technically illegal but almost impossible to police. _________________ NO FOOTBALL FOR FASCISTS |

It doesn't matter who shot the film and it doesn't matter whether it was filmed on a phone or with a camcorder.
You are not allowed to film inside any football ground without permission from the SFL who own the rights to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Division matches.
The SPL have the same rights in the SPL.
If it is true that you can film and show what you like as long as you're not stealing anyone elses video why do the TV companies bother paying £millions for the privilege?
They use their own equipment.

I think you'll find the same is printed on tickets to football matches as well.

No you can't.
Cameras are not allowed into football grounds and I think you'll also find that printed on match tickets as well. |

Jim Foy would be the best man to ask.
He's the one that's worked with the videos since they started and he's the one who puts them all on the website so I can't see anyone knowing any better than him. |

The worst you'd get is a slap on the wrist. As long as you aren't selling it and recording games without permission i'm sure you'll be fine. Keep up the good work |

Why pick on me? I was just giving an honest opinion. Why don't you just tell the guy who posted the thread in the first place? Or phone the Polis and report him!
I've never seen that printed on any ticket I have seen.
I don't think that any TV company would be in the slightest bothered about the videos that dan might post on you tube.
I'll tae back what I said when he's dragged off to trhe cells or when you can prove what you say is true.

I dont work with the highlights other than helping the guys get access, occasionally set up and doing interviews. I had a brief word with Tom yesterday at the brunch as he; developed the link with the College, co-ordinates the Raith TV guys, secures access and edits the games, he concurs with the information Rigby gave in an earlier post. I am sure Jim will agree with Rigby's description also.
I would add that Rigby hits the nail on the head with regards the talks we had with the club and the SFL when trying to restart the match commentary for Victoria Radio Network. This is now up and running but under very strict guidelines.
At best I imagine you may be asked to stop and at worst you may be ejected from the ground- is it worth it? Your choice. |

Dave, any idea what section of the manual those laws are?
I am having to save and open each one manually and it's a bit of a pain.

Dan,
You should be fine. The only time it could cause a problem was if someone else was paying to pick up the game and showing it (BBC or STV) |
