I have been reading and hearing a lot of comments slagging of the new version of geordie munro that we have made.We all know everyone is entitled to their opinion which is fair enough and i can understand that but just for a second look at the bigger picture. The whole point of doing it was to have a bit of fun, raise some money [eventually] for CHAS,THE CHILDRENS WARD AT FORTH PARK and RAITH ROVERS.We dont for one minute expect it to go to number 1 or be a classic but i did think it was something to be proud of.I spent hours if not days organising it and making sure that everyone was available to go into the studio when we could. The college gave us the studio free of charge with the students inc adam the producer putting it together. We have singers like andy chung, dennis alexander and jackie storrar singing on it along with a few others who sing at rtr.On the chorus scott mcbride, raith directors, marilyn livingston and john rowbotham [ex ref]aswell as supporters from some of the fans groups and wider support. We all took time out to do this to help support 3 great causes in these tough times but the criticism has definitely made me think twice about doing anything else in the future. You may think i am over reacting and you are probably correct but i take it personal when it comes to things like this.We have been thinking about doing a cd with a reggae and dance version aswell as our new one [all for a bit of fun and fundraising] but i may put a halt to that.I will speak to everyone else first thats involved. The old version is still available and it will be played at the home games from now on if thats what the fans want but the club has the final decision. It may not be best song or version of a song ever but we never professed it would be. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

Gavin, where are people commenting on the CD ? I for one liked the new version, it certainly sounds a lot more up to date and the chorus is helluva catchy. Ignore the tone deaf moaners, ye done well, long may you keep coming up with these ideas. |

I liked it as well. Particularly the "Rovers, Rovers" bits in between verses.
You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time, Gav!
Don't let it get you down, man! |

It's helluva catchy. It took a few listens before I really got into it but overall I quite enjoy it. It sounded good when the fans started singing the new version as well. |

First of all, absolutely good going to the fans who done this and gav for organising it all.
Not a big fan of the new version. Just think you cant update a classic, the NO NO NO bit is horrific, and the "My name is munro" is not in the original
Yea a little criticism, but every song has it. Will still buy it as its for a good cause and still get the CD purely because of the rovers links.
Pretty sure it'll grow on me though......... |

Quinny, you can't keep everyone happy, all of the time. Now you know how John McGlynn feels!
I like it, it is really catchy and the new 'no no no - pause' is a great gimmick as it's fun and hopefully something that will catch on
really upbeat as well, nothing worse than going to scottish grounds (or any for that matter) and hearing ancient scottish folk-style songs which are decades out of date
I think releasing various versions i.e. dance and regge on a CD is a great idea, as it caters for all tastes
Hope it sells well and also I think we should be thankful that we have a song to call our own, and not simply a rehash of another song, that other supporters recognise - how many team/fans have that luxury?
Well done, and make sure and get it out before I go on holiday so I can get it played in the pubs and clubs of Icmeler! |

Hope the sales go well and awesome effort for doing it, unlike the squeaky bums who sit and criticise you and your team doing something for the fans and the rovers _________________

I have received the new completed version of geordie munro and have set it up ready for download in the next week or so.It will be on I-TUNES,AMAZON MP3 AND SPOTIFY [i hope if its done right that is]just now but can expand it if folk give me some idea what is best. When its ready i will get links to it set up aswell as some publicity so lets get buying to raise a few quid for raith and 2 charities.Myself and dennis alexander also have a few ideas for a cd in the new year with geordie munro on it plus a few raith songs. When we know everyone will be informed.MERRY CHRISTMAS. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE
