Maybe you should stay away more often |
Look at it this way, I was here for the glory years, then I left Kirkcaldy in 1997...Rovers then went on a downward spiral.
I return to live in Kirkcaldy in January 2009. Rovers win the 2nd Division, are doing great guns in the 1st Division and have reached the Scottish Cup semi-final for the first time since the swinging 60s.

Can we win it? Absolutely. Our strongest 11 is more than capable of beating any team in this league.
Will we win it? I don't think so. As others have stated we don't have alot of depth in the squad but I think we'll be challenging well into the new year. |

Quite happy to enjoy where we are at the moment, also as McGlynn says lets take each game as it comes and not get too far ahead of ourselves |

Nah, if I leave again something catastrophic will happen. I saw it in my crystal ball. One of the dafter fans wins the lottery and buys the Rovers. He sacks the board and McGlynn and appoints himself Overlord of Starks Park. He then releases the first team squad and gets his pals from his local pub team signed up. We then plummet through the leagues and end up getting papped out into the amateurs after 10 years at the bottom of the 3rd Division.
I can't leave. _________________ This is the year we win the Play-offs. |

Cracking 1st quarter already points wise.
Perhaps this is the time we start looking at those players on the last year of their contracts (Tade, Wilson and Walker especially), with a view to extending them, as they are fair game come January. |

I would think any player offered another contract at christmas would be hesitant to sign if we are placed as we are now in the league standings and likewise for the club. Too much at stake for each with the possibility of promotion or not. _________________ now enjoying my fishing time, at peace with nature. but being a avid radio ham my global contacts have increased. any hams around call me lz2csk on 14200 or their aboyuts |

Don't see how CE, contract has 2 levels so much as a 1st division player and a higher rate if playing on SPL.
I have signed similar contracts in the past, based on company performance. |

The point i was making GM is the club may offer a player another contract and not be promoted which then could stop that player being offered another contract from an spl club. Hope i explained that clearly. _________________ now enjoying my fishing time, at peace with nature. but being a avid radio ham my global contacts have increased. any hams around call me lz2csk on 14200 or their aboyuts |

Have decided not to vote in this poll as I think it is far too early to talk about winning leagues although I do agree that it has been a very good first quarter so far. To be the only undefeated team in the league is a remarkable achievement, especially when you consider that we have now played all the so-called favourites. But like JMG, I think we should just enjoy what we are doing at the moment and take one game at a time there is a long, long way to go. |

Agreed. I think we should reassess our objectives for the season after the first quarter but its premature to say that will include challenging for promotion.
Having seen everyone bar Ross County - I think the Pars are improved this season, we are improved. Everyone else seems to have either stayed static or actually gone backwards i.e. Dundee, QOS, Ross County which probably leaves us in a stronger position at this stage relative to last season.
Much is being said elsewhere about our great start last season and the fact we fell away. I think last season was a heck of a journey but no team could have sustained any sort of run with our injury list and also getting to the Scottish Cup semi's and ending up with a fixture list bordering on farcical. Unless the gods are against us (or with us depending on your view point about the cup run) I can't see all of these factors all kicking in again this season.
At the start of the season I felt a top six finish would be an achievement and progress. Based on what I've seen so far surely fourth or better is not entirely ridiculous to challange for and anything else is a bonus. |

I know (or at least hope) you're only joking, but I'm a bit worried because that whole plan sounds somewhat similar to one devised by some lunatic Frenchman a few years ago. Maybe I'm just being paranoid though. |

Nope, strange forces are at work. Thankfully i'm back in Kirkcaldy now and i'm in rude health, so the Rovers will continue to go from strength to strength.
Wait till I win the Euro Lottery, then it could all go wrong for the Rovers. £112 million now. Ooooft. I'll be a modern day philanthropist, chucking money at the Rovers and Kirkcaldy in general. _________________ This is the year we win the Play-offs. |
