Stevie Hislop's one of my favourite Rovers players of recent years. He had a connection to the Rovers through his dad and to me it showed - he gave his all and it meant something to him. He had a really hard time with injuries and match-sharpness, but when he did get a run together he was a good player. In our play-off disaster against the minks he looked absolute dynamite, there was no way we'd not beat them - only to go off injured and stay out for ages.
Not counting Anelkites I think Jered Stirling at Hampden was the very worst I've seen. Humphries, Areld, et al looked poor but in much better teams. Lyle, Hilland, McLeod all horrible too.
Vetle Andersen was decent, except that he horrendously immobile. |

The one thing I remember about him (apart from being as slow as a week in the jail) was the he was the most one-footed player I have ever seen at Stark's Park. As you say though he was poor in a premier league team, so comes nowhere near being our worst ever player. Since I'm still not permitted to nominate Maurice Mendy or any of his French friends, the worst player we've seen should surely have played for us in the second division since that's the lowest a lot of us have ever seen the Rovers at. Step forward McLeod, Hilland, Lyle, Stirling etc etc... |

If not Vetle then what about Od Arele (spelling). Seem to remember him coming on and getting hooked in less than an hour. Never to be seen again.
Previous poster mentioned Ian Harty. Great shout. Someone who was meant to have some ability and do a job for us. Turned out to be a useless money grabbing little.... (complete rest of the sentence as you see fit.) |

Been quite a few since I started watching Raith. In more recent years, Sean Kilgannon and Craig Winter spring to mind. I remember in the 2006-2007 season when we were leading 3-0 at half time in Alloa, only for them to ipull two goals back. Sean Kilgannon lumbered up to the touchline and there was a collective groan from the support.
Winter was annoying because he'd disappear in games. I remember in Alloa (again) I didn't realise he was even on the pitch for the first 40 minutes of the game. |

I don't know ... got a funny feeling the other 36 matches we played that season might have been the bigger contributing factor.

Hislop was injured most of that season, but came back and helped us over the line, notably his winner at Stirling the day we went top.
A good servant overall. His name should be nowhere near this thread. I assume you're one of the neandrathals that was never off his back. No doubt you'll have a new hate figure now he's gone. Simmons is my bet. |
I like Simmons actually, good player on his day. Interesting that thinking a player was 'crap' should initiate this kind of reaction. A 'Neandrathal' you say? Suppose I'll let that speak for itself. And anyway at no point did I say I 'hated' anyone. I just said that I thought Steven Hislop was a poor player for Raith. I was never on, off or anywhere near his back! |

Shaun strang is the worst I've seen I've never seen a player who couldn't pass tackle header run and as for his shooting ability that was even worse

Almost right wellyboot, think it was something like he was told he wouldn't be in goal that day and stormed off in the huff. |
