The vote has been postponed indefinitely. I hope that this proposal NEVER comes to fruition and that there may be an alternative proposal to increase the SPL, which would be terrific for the Rovers.

Train to Doncaster now...................

Perhaps but even under a ten team top league set up Rovers go from getting 55k a season to 250k and thats just from being in 'spl 2'.

Proposals on the table at the meeting in April

The 12 SPL clubs discussed the plan collectively at all-club meetings in January and February and will discuss it again on 18 April.

The strategic plan has been led by the SPL board - which has included directors from Aberdeen, Celtic, Hibernian, Motherwell, Rangers and St Mirren - and broadly proposes:

* The creation a pyramid structure in Scottish football
* Permitted, one-off, short-term opt-outs from the SPL's stadia criteria
* A merging of the SPL with the SFL by inviting all 30 SLF member clubs to join a 42-club league under one umbrella banner
* The creation of a 10-team SPL league, with a 12-team Championship and two lower divisions
* The creation of an extra relegation place in the SPL through play-offs between the top two divisions
* A redistribution of money away from the top two positions in the league and reallocating it to the other eight clubs
* An obligation on all Premier League and Championship clubs to become part of the SFA Youth Initiative
* An earlier start to the season and a return of the winter shutdown

Other proposals include changing the structure of the SPL board to include a director from one of the clubs in the Championship.

it'll prob take 3 seasons before they come up with something credible!

Why can't we just have 2 leagues with the same number of teams, who play the same number of matches, and start and finish at the same time...

why such a need for a top Div of 10, 2nd div with 12, 3rd Div with 16.... etc

Far too sensible and not enough money to be made for the top teams....

With Dunfermline going up (and Yorkston's stated preference for SPL expansion), I assume they will add their name alongide ICT, Dundee United and Kilmarnock to scupper the Doncaster/McLeish Masterplan.

That's probably the only good thing about Dunfermline going up. In fact, Yorkston may play a blinder, continually pointing to the full house at EEPv in the recent Derby match.

But will Yorkston still feel the same now they are back in the SPL?
As for the full house at the last derby that was only because it was in effect a title decider. The other 3 derbies only drew crowds of 6k.

More than likely not but his opinion/vote wont matter a jot as long as Utd,ICT and Killie stick to there guns

Your right,if it had been a midtable, meaningless game it would have been lucky to attract 5000

The other away derby actually attracted over 7000,the other two at home 6100 and 6500
