Another of my daft fundraising ideas for the club ,get a 50 gallon drum paint it blue and white {optional}on every matchday it can be wheeled out to the back of the south stand where people can put there loose change into it no notes.Start at the beginning of the season and it doesnt get opened till the last home game, say there are + - 500 supporters in the south stand for each home game each put in say 50p per game thats £250 per home game approx 25 home games per season would make the Rovers £6250 00 I know its only a small amount but it would cost nothing to run and could be used for each home game matchball or ground maintanance or whatever _________________ Raith Rovers 7 Queen of the South 2 1967 those were the days |

They used to do a collection for the St andrews ambulance at half time, with the guys walking round with a blanket and you used to do a Jason Dair (lob Money) into the blanket. |

I like it as an idea, we discussed it before, it would be better than the normal bucket shaking......I'll table the suggestion at Saturdays meeting... If someone can source a suitable container I'd gladly arrange for it to be welded up, a slot cut and painted blue....we'll see if we can get it sign written by one off the local sign companies.
Nearer the time of opening a 'guess the amount' competition could be run for a signed strip or match ball??? _________________ supportrovers@aol.co.uk

I used to have a large whisky bottle for putting change in. If I can find it you are free to have it. |

A wheelie bin would probably be the best idea.
Chain it to a point at the corner of the main stand then wheel it into the concourse just before the KO and leave it near the middle exit gate for the duration of the game and for fulltime. _________________ Competitive goals: Connolly 15, Easton 6, Gullan 6, Stanton 4, Dick 3, Vaughan 3, Connell 2, Brown 1, Frederiksen 1, McBride 1, OG 1. |

Finally...since Irish Rovers initial idea back in 2008 the 'Time for Change Big Blue Bin' has been completed and will be in placed in position either on the approach to the South Stand or the South Stand Concourse. As Irish Rover said its a great way of getting the Club a few quid in these trying times.
A big thankyou to the guys that have made this happen, firstly Irish Rover for his mad idea, Quinny for bringing it to my attention, The Red for his drawings, the lads at Thistle Structures for making it up and Stef's Team at the Sign Company for doing the signage.
I did take the opportunity to bless 'Big Blue' with a tin or three of the 'Irish Black Brew' so I'm sure there's some luck that goes with this also.
Its over to the South Standers to feed the Big Blue....... _________________ supportrovers@aol.co.uk

Sorry, that was poor but I couldn't resist it. _________________ "I'd much rather be playing Bayern Munich and be competitive for thirty minutes, than murdering Stockport 8-0 in the Freight Paint-Rolling Trophy or whatever it's called." |
